But after you unwatch, you can click watch again and just pick the option with no email notifications. Then you will just get the bell alert if there is a new post.

I used the profile setting links Genie provided to eliminate email notifications.
It worked.

The only issue was it seemed to continue until overnight and then it stopped (system reset overnight picking up the change in my settings?).

Yeah this could be. I noticed it didn't work right away too.

But I ended getting some more notifications when some older threads that were automatically watched were bumped today.

I think I found the issue.

It's with the website.

When you reply/bump a thread it automatically switched you/your account to "Watch" thread.

You then have to Unwatch the thread in order to not get the emails.

It's definitely the site though.

You need to change your settings under your profile. It will keep it from happening even if you reply to a thread. Genie posted about it several posts back.

I think the email notifications are somewhat irrelevant. As long as you’re on the forum it shows you when you have a new notification. I guess for some people who don’t check in here daily it would be helpful
