Jack Hughes wants the Hockey Hall of Fame to give him the puck from his gold-medal-winning overtime goal for Team USA in the Milan Cortina Olympics, which is currently on display in Toronto.

"I'm trying to get it. Like, that's bulls--- that the Hockey Hall of Fame has it, in my opinion. Why would they have that puck?" Hughes told ESPN in an exclusive interview on Tuesday.

Real simple WHY they have it - it belongs to USA Hockey - who wants to allow it to be on public display.

You got a gold medal buddy, same as your teammates. Just because you scored the decisive goal doesn’t mean you get the damn puck, the net and the freaking ice you scored it on too. It’s a team sport still - be happy with your medal and the fame that comes with it. Don’t like the terms - don’t play next time.

How many players get to keep the game winner from their championship? While many times personal milestone keepsakes (ie perfect game baseballs, record strike out or first/,milestone hit) are returned to the player - championship winners stay with the club as a rule of thumb.

The Hockey Hall of Fame said it will not give Jack Hughes the puck from his gold-medal-winning goal for Team USA in the Milan Cortina Olympics.

"Unfortunately, in the easiest words, it was never Jack's puck to own," Philip Pritchard, vice president of the resource center and curator for the Hockey Hall of Fame, told ESPN on Wednesday.

"It's been donated to us now. For every artifact that's been donated, we have a paper trail and signed paperwork of where it's come from."
