Why are some bets "circled" an hour before game time?

I understand the part about limiting bets because of potential injuries. That hasn't always been my experience with these bets though. That's the first thing I check when seeing a circled game and oftentimes I don't see any potential injuries. Is it a coach potentially resting players?

Last night Miss St and Alabama was a circled game an hour before the game started. Alabama's key player Labaron Philon (22 ppg) was already declared out the day before. Were the books thinking he might still play?

What are some reasons other than injuries that a game might be circled so close to game time?

This is a great topic. Quantum, IMHO the injury INFO might be iron-clad. However, the book might be very shaky about the ADJUSTMENT.

Books like to write action when they feel very confident in their #. On a certain injury, they may be uncertain about how many pts to move the line. Ergo, the circled games.

Just my opinion. GL on your action.

Great point. Even though Philon was ruled out the books may not know how the remaining team members would play without him. To your point, they may not be confident about the adjustment of the line.

Nobody knows who’s even playing games anymore even 30 minutes before the tip off

Once you can learn to handicap with the players, you'll find that the players and teams don't matter, lol.

They do the same thing every year, players and teams just rotate.

Once you realize that, you will go even further towards winning long term.

Keep it simple.

"It's not what they bring, it's how they bring it. It's only after you can appreciate what they bring that you can truly appreciate how they bring it."
