With Angel Reese’s status still uncertain, tonight’s matchup between Chicago and Seattle becomes even more intriguing for bettors. Let’s take a look at what the sportsbooks are saying and find the best value on the WNBA odds boards.
Seattle Storm vs. Chicago Sky
Thursday, July 24, 2025 – 8:30 PM EDT at Wintrust Arena
Angel Reese’s Condition
First of all, when considering tonight’s Angel Reese prop bets, we have to consider her physical condition. We could love her matchup tonight, but she would still struggle if she weren’t fit.
Reese is listed as ‘questionable’ tonight with a back injury. She did play in her team’s last game, although in it she suffered her lowest scoring output in a month. In that game, she might have still been dealing with a leg injury, which had caused her to miss her team’s final game before the All-Star Break.
This back injury is something new, but because body parts are obviously connected, this new injury might be connected to her issues with her leg.
Don’t Put Your Money on Reese
Whatever the exact science may be, she cannot be said to reliably be fit.
If she ends up not playing, we can still be sure to bet on this game and to bet on Chicago’s team total under, which, along with Seattle -9.5, I even really like if Reese plays and which would naturally have an even better chance of hitting if she does not play.
Storm in Bounce-Back Spot
When deciding which prop bets look interesting for a player, it is tempting, methodologically, to focus on the player. But we have to recognize that this player is facing a team and that, as is the case tonight, the team might be participating in circumstances that will have a decisive, detrimental impact on the player. Specifically, circumstances dictate that Seattle’s defense will be locked-in tonight.
The Storm are in a bounce-back situation after they were embarrassed in their last game. They reliably bounce back by playing solid defense, which will facilitate a low-scoring output for both Reese and her Chicago Sky.
Most recently, the Storm held Connecticut to 65 points on July 11 after losing their last game by ten points while conceding 93 points. Subsequently, the Storm held Golden State to 58 points after they had given up 74 points in a loss.
While it’s true that Golden State and Connecticut have bad offenses, the same is also true of Chicago. In fact, the Sky ranks second-to-last in offensive rating. It is clear that, after a loss, Seattle reliably pummels the opposing team’s offense.
Storm’s Defense to Shut Down Sky’s Offense
What is more specific to Reese’s outlook tonight is the fact that her opponent boasts solid interior defenders. Look out, in particular, for Ezi Magbegor, who has been named to three consecutive All-Defensive Teams.
Magbegor vs. Reese: Defense Likely Wins the Battle
Like Reese, Magbegor is a forward. She stabilizes Seattle’s interior with her shot-blocking and rim protection. Her athleticism, which will enable her to overcome the threat that Reese poses to less athletic defenders, is a major feature.
With Seattle having good perimeter defenders in the form of different guards and a perimeter defense that is strong overall, Magbegor has a relatively easy job and a job that she consistently excels at.
By far, Reese tries to score most of her points around the basket. She is, however, very inefficient in the space nearest the basket —although she is even more inefficient with her rare mid-range attempts— and will now get too tough of a test from Seattle’s defense.
Injuries Piling Up for Chicago’s Offense
The Sky enters tonight’s game on a three-game losing streak that creates stronger promise for Seattle’s defense.
In their last two games, they lost by 37 and 23 points, respectively. While scoring all of 49 and 68 points in them, respectively, they’ve lost their last two games by a combined 60 points.
Their struggles are partly injury-induced. Two games ago, Michaela Onyenwere played all of twelve minutes before sustaining a knee injury that will keep her out of tonight’s game. Ariel Atkins has missed her team’s last two games and will likewise miss tonight’s game. Of course, fellow valued scorer and top distributor Courtney Vandersloot is still injured.
With its first- and fourth-leading scorers and its top assist-getter hurt, Chicago lacks healthy offensive options. Seattle’s defense will be able to focus on limiting Reese if she even plays today.
Best Bets for Storm vs. Sky
Regardless of Reese’s status, you’ll want to target the team total under for a Sky team that, despite each time getting blown out and facing a defense that could afford to relax, hasn’t reached 70 points in either of its last two games, largely because it is too battered up.
Chicago’s two-game streak of suffering blowouts makes Seattle -9.5 worth an investment, especially with the Storm winning their last six games that directly followed a loss and with half of those wins coming by at least 14 points. The Storm defense and the overall team will enjoy their bounce-back situation tonight.
With Seattle’s interior defense solid, Reese’s point total under is going to hit if she plays. Regardless of her status, you can also parlay the Storm -9.5 with Chicago’s team total under.
Parlay Pick
- Sky Under 73 (-115)
- Angel Reese Under 13.5 Points (-120)
