USA Moneyline (+105) at Bovada

USA vs. Canada – 08:10 AM ET

The highly anticipated Olympic gold medal final is upon us, as the top two-ranked teams in the tournament go head-to-head. This matchup is a repeat of last year’s Four Nations tournament, which Canada won 3-2 in overtime.

Canada and the USA have been evenly matched over their last 10 games, with both teams winning 50% of those contests. Looking back at their last 20 matchups, Canada has won 12 of them.

It’s going to be difficult to separate these two teams, so it’s best to bet where the value lies — and for us, that’s with the USA at +105 Olympic hockey betting odds. Although we’ve liked Canada throughout the tournament and believe they can win this, the better pick may be the USA as underdogs.

Canada trailed 2-0 in the semifinals before mounting a comeback victory, but they won’t be able to afford that luxury against a team as strong as the USA.

The Americans have not conceded a first-period goal in eight of their previous 11 games, while Canada has allowed a first-period goal in each of their last four. Whoever takes the early lead could very well win the Olympic gold medal.

USA vs. Canada Over 4.5 Goals (-140) at Bovada

We expect tonight’s game to be cagey, but at the same time we’re anticipating at least five goals. We quite like the over 4.5 line here despite laying -140 juice. On most occasions, 5+ goals usually come in around -200 odds or lower, so we’re getting some value tonight — even in a final.

Both teams have tremendous firepower offensively, and their previous 20 meetings have averaged 6.1 goals per game. The over 4.5 total has cashed in 17 of those 20 matchups.

At the very least, if we get a 2-2 scoreline at the end of regulation, we’re still in a great position to cash the over 4.5, as either team would need to win 3-2 in overtime or a shootout. Just make sure the sportsbook you’re using includes overtime in totals.

Canada’s Connor McDavid has been on fire throughout this tournament. It may be worth looking at his over 1.5 total points, as he has recorded 2+ points in every game so far at these Olympics.

If you’re betting on Canada to win, this could work as a correlated side bet. Pairing McDavid 2+ points with a USA win is possible, but it’s a bit contradictory.
