The Atlanta Dream take their three-game winning streak to Chicago to take on the Sky.
Both teams are coming off wins over the Washington Mystics. The Dream defeated the Mystics by 16 points and Chicago won by 14 points. Which team will be able to build on their momentum?
Dream On: Atlanta Poised to Blow Past the Struggling Sky
At first glance, this looks like an easy matchup for the Atlanta Dream.
The Dream are currently 18-11, tied for third place in the league. The Sky are 8-21 and are mired in 11th place in the league. The point spread reflects this. The Dream are heavy road favorites in this matchup.
They are led by Allisha Gray, who averages 18.7 points and 5.5 rebounds per game this season. The 8th-year veteran led the way in the victory over the Mystics with 22 points. In that game, they fell behind 10-0 but went on a 59-37 run to get the victory.
The Dream also rely on Jordin Canada to set the stage for their offense and she leads the team in assists. Canada had 9 assists in the win over the Mystics and the Dream set a season high for points in that game.
Sky Falling Without Reese: Can Chicago Compete Shorthanded?
Angel Reese leads the Chicago Sky, but unfortunately, Reese is currently sidelined by a back injury.
Reese is a controversial player with a notable rivalry with WNBA star Caitlin Clark, which has made her a polarizing figure amongst basketball fans. However, one feels about Reese, as we cannot deny the effort she puts into the court and her strong rebounding ability.
Reese has missed three consecutive games and has only played in two of the seven games post-All-Star break. She is listed as day to day, but I would be surprised if she hits the floor tonight.
One of the reasons that Reese will not be pressed into action until she is 100% is the fact that the Sky are completely out of playoff position. The Sky are 6.5 games out of the final playoff spot, and there are only 15 games remaining in the regular season.

Sky’s the Limit? Not Against Atlanta’s Cover Charge
On the Atlanta Dream’s last visit to Chicago, they were able to get it 86-49 win.
In that game, after the third quarter, the Dream had made 13 field goals in the third quarter and the Sky had 14 field goals in the whole game. However, in the month of July, that was one of only two double-digit wins for Atlanta.
Regardless, I think the Dream will continue their dominance over the Chicago Sky.
The Sky are packing it in and looking towards next season knowing that they have been all but eliminated from the playoffs. The Dream are on a mission and fighting to move into second place in the league standings.

The Sparks have won two games in a row and are 8-2 over their last 10 games. One of the reasons for their struggles this season has been their weak home record. The Sparks are only 4-9 at home this year. The Sparks will be looking to build on the momentum they created in July and get some wins on this homestand.
The Sparks are double-digit home favorites against the worst team in the league. The Sun lost four of their last five games by more than 10 points. That streak will continue tonight.
