The time for talking is over; we’ll let the money talk and dive right into the most noteworthy picks and betting odds for the UFC 317 preliminary card bouts.

UFC 317 Event Information

  • Date & Time: Saturday, June 28, 2025 – 06:30 PM EDT
  • Location: T-Mobile Arena, Las Vegas, Nevada
  • Scheduled Fights: 12
  • Main Event: Ilia Topuria vs. Charles Oliveira (UFC Lightweight Title Bout)

Hyder Amil vs. Jose Delgado

UFC 317 Featherweight Preliminary Bout

Hyder Amil

If you don’t know the name Hyder Amil by now, then get to know it. This all-action fighter could have the next best gas tank next to Merab Dvalishvili, the only difference being that he’s swapped from relentless wrestling for constant striking, and with an unbeaten 11-0 record, not one of his opponents has managed to handle his ultra-high output to date.

  • Amil Pro Record: 11-0
  • Amil KO/TKO Wins: 6
  • Amil Submission Wins: 1

Jose Delgado

In step, another noteworthy featherweight prospect, Jose Delgado. His UFC debut earlier this year saw him send Connor Matthews to the shadow realm with a picture-perfect overhand right to ground and pound, and with the world-renowned MMA Lab behind him, this 27-year-old could have a bright future ahead of him.

  • Delgado Pro Record: 9-1
  • Delgado KO/TKO Wins: 5
  • Delgado Submission Wins: 4

Amil vs. Delgado: Fight Tape Analysis

We’re looking at the sleeper fight of the night here, ladies and gentlemen, because we have two willing strikers, with plenty of knockout power, and a point to prove as newcomers to the UFC’s 145lb weight class.

With that said, these men aren’t the same fighter. Amil is all about chaos, and where he lacks in technical flair, he makes up for it with pressure and high output. Delgado is no stranger to pressure himself, but he’s undoubtedly going to lose the numbers game in a battle of tit-for-tit on the feet, so it makes me wonder if he’ll implement some grappling into his game plan.

While we’ve seen Amil get taken down on many occasions, we’ve also seen him get back to his feet and finish opponents after the fact. This, again, brings us to his cardio… which I believe could be the difference-maker in this spot, no matter how Delgado opts to approach this bout.

UFC 317 Preliminary Card Odds & Prediction

The UFC pricing, as reviewed by Bookmakers Review, has placed Delgado as the betting favorite, and his current six-fight win streak, with six stoppages, is a good reason for this. However, I don’t envision this fight as anything but a 50/50 scrap between two prospects, and on that note, it’s simply a toss-up situation from a betting perspective.

Ultimately, I can see either fighter having their hand raised, but Amil’s cardio and output have been money for us bettors throughout his career thus far, so why wouldn’t we go back to the well? At the very least, Amil is going to fight like a man possessed for our bankroll!

Jhonata Diniz vs. Alvin Hines

UFC 317 Heavyweight Preliminary Bout

Jhonata Diniz

From GLORY kickboxing to the UFC, Brazil’s Jhonata Diniz had some rolling hype behind his elite striking skills. Still, they were unfortunately put to bed as Marcin Tybura exploited his lack of grappling to finish him inside the distance last time out.

While the unbeaten 8-0 The streak of Diniz came to an abrupt end, and the UFC continues its struggles in finding valuable heavyweight competitors. Diniz remains a polished striker who will take out many of the lower-level players on the roster, and this sentiment may hold true this coming weekend.

  • Diniz Pro Record: 8-1
  • Diniz KO/TKO Wins: 7
  • Diniz Submission Wins: 0

Alvin Hines

Why is the UFC ushering in a 33-year-old heavyweight that holds little experience and a resume filled with nobodies? Well, that’s precisely what Alvin Hines is. Although his fight tape from LFA looks impressive, he’s an extremely bulky dude with limited flexibility, slow pacing, and nothing to show me he can compete beyond the bottom of the heavyweight barrel.

  • Hines Pro Record: 7-0
  • Hines KO/TKO Wins: 3
  • Hines Submission Wins: 3

Diniz vs. Hines: Fight Tape Analysis

Say what you will about Diniz’s lack of grappling, he sure makes up for it with his striking offense. Sure, he couldn’t handle the top-ranked offerings and longtime MMA grappling of Tybura. Still, Karl Williams, also a wrestler, was easily handled by the Brazilian, and I don’t envision Hines being any different.

Hines has brutalized some guys in the LFA, but this is the UFC, and outside of dragging opponents to the ground, his striking has looked vulnerable. This is where Diniz will excel, especially in the green zone of striking, where he can piece up the newcomer whose only tests have been on the regional scene.

UFC 317 Preliminary Card Odds & Prediction

The UFC pricing, as reviewed by Bookmakers Review’s top sportsbooks, makes Dizin a betting favorite, and this is no surprise. However, I don’t envision this bout going long, so the value I appreciate here is on the under 1 ½ rounds at -110.

Better yet, if Hines does manage to get the takedown and maintain position, he’ll be live for a stoppage himself. But ultimately, I believe the speed of Diniz can avoid the clinch and see the takedowns coming a mile off before he finds the perfect combo or one-punch shot to end the debutant’s night.

Under 1.5 Rounds: Supporting UFC 317 Facts

  • Diniz has seen under 1.5 rounds in 7 of his 9 pro-MMA bouts.
  • Hines has seen under 1.5 rounds in 5 of his 7 pro-MMA bouts.
