Can Texas and their seven transfers figure out Gonzaga at McCarthey Athletic Center in Spokane, WA? Let’s see what the NCAAB odds tell us about this matchup.

Texas Longhorns vs. Gonzaga Bulldogs

Saturday, November 13, 2021 – 10:30 PM EST at McCarthey Athletic Center

The Gonzaga Bulldogs defeated Dixie State, 97-63, but apparently, that wasn’t good enough for most. Analysts and critics around sports media questioned if Gonzaga was really the number one team after a massive defeat against Dixie State. Why was Gonzaga hated for winning a game by that much?

You know exactly why. They didn’t cover the spread. Nonetheless, Gonzaga took care of business and have so much potential moving forward. On the other hand, the Chris Beard era for the Texas Longhorns worked out, with the Longhorns jumping all over Houston Baptist in the first game of the season, 92-48.

Waiting List

The offense had plenty of big-time shooters but also had a defense that is relentless. Both of these two teams are completely different. Texas added seven transfers while Gonzaga added one transfer and more freshmen.

Texas is waiting on former Vanderbilt star, Dylan Disu to return from injury, but with Marcus Carr (Minnesota), Tre Mitchell (UMass), Christian Bishop (Creighton), Timmy Allen (Utah), Devin Askew (Kentucky) and Avery Benson (Texas Tech) all on this Texas roster, you can see why they’re so dangerous.

The Longhorns added those transfers along with returning players like Courtney Ramey and Andrew Jones, who each scored over 12 points per game last season for Texas. In comparison, Texas has the experience while Gonzaga probably has more potential moving forward. With Gonzaga at home, it’s tough to choose which team will perform better.

Both teams scored over 90 points in their first games this season but we figure that possessions will be a bit more limited and the offense might be just a little bit harder to come by in this game. Gonzaga still returns Drew Timme and Andrew Nembhard along with transfer Rasir Bolton, who left Iowa State after scoring 15.5 points per game last season.

They’ve got some leadership, but the Bulldogs will also have to rely on some of the younger players to play well. So far, Julian Strawther has looked like he could be that guy after putting together a double-double with 17 points and 10 rebounds against Dixie State while starting.

Expert Prediction

It’s too hard to predict a winner in this game. At Gonzaga, you’d expect the Bulldogs to pull it out, but Texas is seriously loaded with talent. Just don’t go thinking we’re going to see each team score 90 points again tonight. The pace of play is going to be slower, possessions are going to last longer and shots will be harder to make in this one.

I’m looking at the under 151 in this game. Even if the score is 74-73, the under will hit between these two teams. How many times are we going to see Chris Beard’s team allow more than 70 points in a game?

If this game does go over, it’ll be because of really good shooting. Sometimes teams or players just can’t miss. But overall, this game at 151 is calling my name with the under for tonight’s college hoops pick.
