Table of Contents

Florida comes into tonight’s contest having won 12 of their previous 15 games, the second-best record in the NHL in the last 15 games. Meanwhile, the visiting Nashville Predators have the ninth-worst record over the same number of games.

A win for the Panthers tonight will see them win their tenth home game in a row, the Predators have lost 5 of their previous 6 road games.

Nashville Predators vs. Florida Panthers

Nashville Playoff Bound?

It may be somewhat of a surprise that this Predators team has got themselves in a playoff race and they are currently standing in good stead as they have four more points than fifth place Dallas, plus they have played one game less, and let’s be honest they are a better team than Dallas so we expect them to pick up more wins than them in the final quarter of the season.

The Predators are a good team in the making but they do have some flaws, they are one of the worst teams in the league at creating high danger chances. They have the fourteenth best goals for and goals against record in the league, which is at least in the top 60% in the NHL.

Matt Duchene, Roman Josi, and Filip Forsberg have all played pretty well this season and the three combined have scored 136 points this season. Josi is tenth overall in the league in assists with 38 and Forsberg twelfth overall with 28 goals.

No Let Up From Panther's Offense

This Panthers team is merciless, they lead the league with 4.12 goals per game, a big margin between themselves and second place Colorado who have a 3.96 average. The Panthers have scored 208 goals so far this season.

The Panthers have scored 3 or more goals in 8 of their previous 10 NHL games and have scored a massive 54 goals in their 9 undefeated home games. Yes, they do have a mediocre defense, but their ability to outscore teams is one of their main strengths.

They can thank the efforts of the goaltender and two-time Vezina winner Sergei Bobrovsky, the Russian has allowed 2.51 goals per game and has a save percentage of .919. Overall he is ranked the fourteenth best goaltender so far this season, but his numbers are not far off top 7.

*Trends should never be your main source of information when it comes to making your betting picks, they are merely guidelines and mostly irrelevant information but nonetheless can be interesting to read.

What Are the Betting Odds and Current Lines?

Moneyline: Nashville have been priced up at +175 with the best online sportsbooks. You will have to lay -200 on the moneyline if betting the home team.

Total: Tonight’s total has been set at 6.5 and you will have to lay up to -115 to bet the over, whilst the under is best priced up at +105 with Everygame (visit our Everygame Review).

Puck Line: Florida on the PK line -1.5 (+120), whilst the Predators are +1.5 (-140).

Betting Predictions

Florida should prove to be too strong for this Predators team, especially at home where they have made this place a fortress, boasting the best home record in the Eastern conference by a long shot as they picked up 46 points compared to just Toronto’s 37 points.

To be fair to the Predators they have the fourth-best road record in the Western Conference but they have not fared well on their travels lately with just one win in five.

We have found some incredible value here as we are looking to bet the Panthers to win and over 5.5 goals at +150, we really expected these set of odds to be no more than +120, so to get plus 30 cents here is amazing.

Theirs a VERY high chance that if the Florida Panthers win this game will go over 5.5 goals as 19 of their 26 home games this season has done so, and the Predators have seen the most over 5.5 on the road with 18 of their 26 hitting the over.

You could bet ½ unit on the Predators to win and over 5.5 at +450 with BetOnline (visit our BetOnline Review) to cover the play, and two-unit on the Panthers to win and over 5.5. The 6.5 over line juiced to -115 is not appealing and neither is laying -200.
