North Carolina Tar Heels vs. Duke Blue Devils

Saturday, March 05, 2022 – 06:00 PM EST at Cameron Indoor Stadium

Betting Preview

The Duke Blue Devils have won the ACC regular-season title in Coach K’s final season as head coach. Tonight, Duke will celebrate Coach K’s storied career, at home in the Cameron Indoor Stadium against the North Carolina Tar Heels.

It’s going to be much cheaper to watch the game on television than to go to the game. Tickets are reaching absurd prices for Coach K’s final home game as head coach of Duke.

But it’s not time to reminisce. It’s time to find a winner. The North Carolina Tar Heels have been a good enough offense but haven’t been good enough on the defensive end.

North Carolina is shooting an effective field goal percentage of 52.7% while hitting 37.4% from deep and 50.7% from inside the arc. The Tar Heels limit turnovers to 17% and earn 30.7% offensive rebounds this season. However, it’s going to be hard for North Carolina to get to the line, knowing how well Duke has done limiting fouls this season.

Duke has also held opponents to a 46% effective field goal percentage, with teams hitting just 29.9% from two and 46.6% from inside the arc. The Blue Devils won’t earn a heavy dosage of turnovers and have been average on the defensive glass, giving up 28.4% offensive rebounds.

On the other hand, Duke’s offense is what makes them elite. Duke has a team that is capable of winning it all this year. That would be an incredible story. Anyway, Duke is shooting an effective field goal percentage of 55.8% while only turning the ball over 15.1% of the time.

The Blue Devils have hit 37.7% from deep and 55.3% from inside the arc. On the offensive glass, Duke has earned 32.1% offensive rebounds, but like North Carolina, won’t get to the line consistently.

It’ll also be hard for Duke to earn offensive rebounds knowing that the Tar Heels allow just 21.2% offensive rebounds this season. Still, Duke should be very good with protecting the basketball with North Carolina earning under 15% of turnovers this season.

The Tar Heels also allow teams to shoot 34.7% from three and 48.6% from inside the arc this season.

Prediction

Duke is currently an NCAAB championship contender. As long as the defense holds, the Blue Devils will be legitimate contenders. There’s no other way to go about this game than by taking Duke with Coach K’s final game coaching from the sideline in Cameron Indoor Stadium.

Second chances will be limited by both teams and foul shooting will be hard to come by. But ultimately, Duke will shoot a better percentage at home and win this game while covering.
