MLB Parlays Today: Oct. 8

Division Series - Detroit Tigers v Seattle Mariners - Game Two
Table of Contents

There are four MLB Playoffs matchups on the horizon today. Ultimately, there’s a chance a team from all four games can move on into the next round with a win today.

The Mariners are currently up 2-1 over the Tigers, but will need a road win today to advance in the Best of 5 series.

Meanwhile, the Brewers are currently leading the Cubs 2-0 in their series. If Chicago fails to win today, Milwaukee will escape with a sweep of their rivals.

In addition, the Yankees survived a scare last night. It’s now 2-1 in favor of the Blue Jays in their series. New York has an opportunity to force a Game 5 at home.

Finally, the Dodgers are up 2-0 over the Phillies with a couple of home games coming up. The Phillies and Cubs are certainly in worse positions heading into today.

With that out of the way, let’s get to the daily MLB parlays for today.

The Detroit Tigers are set to pitch Casey Mize tonight. The right-hander has allowed a .218 ISO to his last 107 batters. He’s also given up a 196 ISO to 289 righties this season. Ultimately, he’s set to face a Mariners’ lineup that has a ton of power against righties. On the other hand, the Mariners will send out Bryce Miller. He’s allowed a .406 ISO and wOBA of .511 to his last 35 lefties. The Tigers have more lefties than righties in their lineup.

In the Cubs game, it’ll be Jameson Taillon on the hill. The Chicago starter has limited his last 103 batters to a .103 ISO and wOBA of .233. That’s ideal, especially since the Brewers’ projected lineup has hit a .117 ISO over the last 30 days against righties.

Plus, while the Yankees-Blue Jays game was high-scoring yesterday, I expect a lower-scoring game tonight. Louis Varland will pitch for the Blue Jays. The righty has allowed a .086 ISO and wOBA of .180 to his last 38 batters, while inducing nearly 61% of ground balls. He’ll have to be nearly perfect when facing Cam Schlittler.

MLB Longshot Parlay (+689) at BetOnline

  • Mariners Moneyline
  • Cubs Moneyline
  • Yankees -1.5

While the Mariners-Tigers game will be high-scoring, I still like the Mariners to come out on top. Detroit’s lineup has hit a .130 ISO and wOBA of .299 against righties over the last month. The Tigers should still find success, but Seattle’s power will be a notch above.

In addition, we’re doubling down on the Cubs. Chicago will be home, looking to extend the series at least one more game. Jameson Taillon has good numbers over the last month and is facing a Brewers offense that has been inconsistent against righties during that same time.

Plus, while I like the Under in the Blue Jays-Yankees game, I’m also riding the Yankees at -1.5. New York has one of the best young aces in the game, who is coming off a massive high-pressure game against the Red Sox. He competed in that one and should be just as good in this one.

Riley Greene has smashed a .228 ISO and wOBA of .343 against righties over the last 30 days. If anyone is going to have a big day against Bryce Miller, it’s him and Colt Keith.

Keith, another lefty, will bat in front of Greene. He’s added a .148 ISO and wOBA of .371 against his last 31 righties.

Finally, Julio Rodriguez looks great on paper for the Mariners. He’s earned a .263 ISO and wOBA of .420 with only 16.4% of strikeouts against righties. With Mize allowing a high ISO to righties over the last month, it’s a good spot to take Rodriguez.

Tips for Building Parlays

  • Don’t bet crazy amounts during the MLB Postseason!
  • Compare head-to-head analytics over the last 30 days.
  • Remember that pitches will have short leashes, and the bullpen will play a factor late in games.
  • Use numbers beyond batting average and ERA.
