New York Mets

The Mets are 9-3 in their last 12 games, as they look to prove a whole host of doubters wrong and make a run in the postseason, and on paper they should have the roster to do just that.

The Mets have a decent batting lineup, that has struggled with clutch hitting so far this year, but we would expect those numbers to average out over time, so if they can keep pitching the way they are pitching they could be even more dangerous in the future.

New York’s pitching is really why they are in this position though, as they have the best starting pitcher in the league with Jacob deGrom, and a whole host of solid pitchers on this staff which has led the Mets to having the 3rd best team ERA in all of the major leagues (3.23).

With that said, they do not have a listed pitcher in this spot at press time, so keep an eye out for the news in this one, as the Atlanta Braves have a solid batting lineup on the other side of things and this game might not go well for the Mets if they are unable to put someone out there who is up for the challenge.

Atlanta Braves

The Braves have been a bit disappointing so far this season, and they are riding a 3 game losing skid coming into this game which included losing the first two games of this series, so they will be looking to avoid the sweep.

There are really two guys to look out for here in this Braves batting lineup with Ronald Acuna Jr. and Freddie Freeman having awesome starts to the season combining for 24 home runs with each of them having 12 homers apiece.

Charlie Morton will head to the mound for the Braves in this matchup with the Mets and that gives us a bit of a wildcard to consider here, as we know just how good he can be when he is on his game, but he has not exactly been great so far with an ERA above 5, so it will be interesting to see how he performs here against this Mets team.

The Pick

Morton has not been very good so far, and I think this Mets team is well balanced enough with lefties that they can get to him early here. On the other side of the equation the Braves can hit just about anyone for power, so I would expect them to be able to put up runs. Therefore, I’m siding with a higher scoring affair, since both of these teams can have plenty of success with bat in hand.
