NCAAF Picks Week 12 At-a-Glance
I will recommend three College Football picks for week 12. Here are the three games that interest me: Utah vs. Baylor, Virginia Tech vs. Florida State, and Mississippi State vs. Missouri.
Utah Utes vs. Baylor Bears (Baylor +9.5)
Saturday, November 15, 2025 – 07:00 PM EST
Good performances from Utah quarterback Devon Dampier lead to high-scoring outputs for the Utes. Against Power Four opponents, they only failed to reach 30 points when Dampier accumulated fewer than 200 passing yards or ran for fewer than five YPC.
I like Utah’s offense in this game because Dampier has a great outlook against Baylor.
Baylor reliably struggles against mobile quarterbacks. On October 25, for example, Baylor gave up 41 points to a Cincinnati team led by a dual-threat quarterback who passed efficiently and ran for 85 yards.
Baylor is going to want to pass because it is a pass-heavy team. The Bears own the 15th-highest pass-play percentage. However, when the Utes allowed more than 14 points in a game, they did so because of their opponent’s high rushing total.
Because of how good their pass defense is, it is ideal for them to face a team that wants to rely on passing the ball. The Utes rank fifth against the pass.
Therefore, bet on Utah -9.5.
Virginia Tech Hokies vs. Florida State Seminoles (Florida State -12.5)
Saturday, November 15, 2025 – 07:30 PM EST
Dual-threat quarterback Kyron Drones’ horrible accuracy makes the success of Virginia Tech’s offense reliant on its rush attack.
Hence, the only Power Four school against which the Hokies exceeded 26 points was a Cal team that surrendered 357 rushing yards to them. Whereas Cal ranks 90th in run defense, Florida State ranks 23rd.
In its last game, Florida State held Clemson’s rush attack to 2.7 YPC, giving up 24 points only because the Tigers have a monumentally better passer than Drones. Two games ago, Florida State held Wake Forest with its dual-threat quarterback to seven points.
Virginia Tech gave up 30 points at home to a Wake Forest team with a weaker dual-threat quarterback in Robby Ashford, who has thrown more interceptions than touchdowns and has fewer rushing yards than Florida State’s dual-threat quarterback.
The Hokies are especially weak against the run. In their last game, they surrendered 235 rushing yards at home to Louisville. On the season, their rush defense ranks 87th. Florida State has an effective dual-threat quarterback and overall offensive firepower to exceed 30 points against Virginia Tech.
Therefore, bet on Florida State -12.5.
Mississippi State Bulldogs vs. Missouri Tigers (Missouri -6.5)
Saturday, November 15, 2025 – 07:45 PM EST
The situation favors Mississippi State decisively.
The Bulldogs need one win to achieve bowl eligibility. If they don’t do it this week, they’d have to do it on November 28 against sixth-ranked Ole Miss. Beating Missouri is their only realistic option, especially with the Tigers’ starting quarterback sidelined.
It is evident from Missouri’s failure to exceed ten points against Vanderbilt and the ease with which Texas A&M covered the spread against Missouri that the Tigers’ freshman quarterback isn’t ready for his starting role.
Despite having two weeks to prepare for the Aggies, he was 7-for-22 for 77 passing yards. Thanks to Zollers’ dud and the Tigers’ poor pass coverage, Missouri’s playoff hopes have been dashed. The Tigers have nothing to play for now.
Mississippi State’s quarterback exited his game last week after a hard hit, but he was cleared to return. His backup quarterback, however, was efficient as a passer and effective as a runner, so there are no concerns with the Bulldogs’ offense this week.
Thus, bet on Mississippi State +6.5.
