Last week, there were many games that didn’t look great on paper. It was a bunch of high-ranked teams against mid-tier teams. However, there were a couple of massive upsets, including Penn State’s road loss to the UCLA Bruins.
Penn State and Florida, two teams ranked inside the top five to begin the season, are now both out of the top 25 with their losses last week.
Fortunately, this week, there are some major headlining games. The big game of the day will be Indiana against Oregon. It’s a top-ten matchup in the Big Ten. In addition, there’s the Red River Rivalry between Oklahoma and Texas and a thriller between Alabama and Missouri.
Below, I’ll discuss college football odds for Week 7 for those three exciting games and talk about what to watch for.
Alabama Crimson Tide vs. Missouri Tigers (+3)
Saturday, October 11 – 12:00 PM EDT
The Alabama Crimson Tide is currently a 3.5-point favorite over the Missouri Tigers on the road. Alabama is coming off a tremendous win over the Vanderbilt Commodores. They’ve now 2-0 in conference play with wins over ranked opponents like Georgia and Vanderbilt.
Yet, Alabama opened as 5.5-point favorites and was bet down to -3.5. Missouri is 1-0 and also 2-0 in conference play. The Tigers already have a 29-20 win over South Carolina and are heading into this game coming off a bye week. Missouri has had way more time to prepare for this game and most recently knocked off UMass, 42-6. Missouri hasn’t been tested, but bettors love the fact that the Tigers will likely be healthier heading into this game.
Indiana Hoosiers vs. Oregon Ducks (-7.5)
Saturday, October 11 – 3:30 PM EDT
The Oregon Ducks’ latest win came against Penn State in Penn State’s Whiteout game. It took double overtime, but Oregon prevailed. That win isn’t looking as good after Penn State dropped its game to UCLA last week. However, the Ducks remain undefeated at 5-0, boasting some dominant performances all around this season.
Like Oregon, Indiana also had a bye week last weekend. After a 63-10 win over Illinois, Indiana only delivered a 20-15 win over Iowa. Still, under Coach Cignetti, the Hoosiers are legitimate and for real. It’s just hard to imagine Indiana will come into Eugene, OR, and earn a win over the No. 3-ranked Ducks. That’s why the Ducks are still -7.5 against the spread heading into this game.
Oklahoma Sooners vs. Texas Longhorns (-3)
Saturday, October 11 – 3:30 PM EDT
Arch Manning of the Texas Longhorns was a Heisman favorite heading into this season. He was a popular bet just because of his last name. He had proved nothing prior to this season and hasn’t proven anything this season; in fact, he’s thrown five interceptions in five games and currently leads the Longhorns in rushing yards with 160. The offense has been abysmal when compared to Texas’ recent standards.
That said, Oklahoma starting quarterback John Mateer is currently out after having surgery on his hand a couple of weeks ago. He’s likely going to miss this game, giving Michael Hawkins Jr. the start. The offense might not be as good with Hawkins Jr, but after a bye week, you’d like to assume Oklahoma will be on the right page offensively. Texas is a 2.5-point favorite with Mateer out, but this could be a good buy-low spot with Oklahoma.
