Last week’s slate was more appealing on paper. However, there are still some intriguing matchups on this week’s slate of college football.

The ESPN College Gameday crew is headed to Alabama for a huge SEC game between Vanderbilt and Alabama. Vanderbilt’s Diego Pavia ultimately put a target on his back when he said Vanderbilt would win a National Championship this year.

So far, he’s played outstanding and has the Commadores at 5-0 heading into this game. That said, they’re 9.5-point underdogs in that game.

In addition, Texas will visit Florida, and Miami is set to take on Florida State. When these two teams are good, it’s good for college football.

Below, we’ll break down the college football odds for Week 6.

Vanderbilt Commodores vs. Alabama Crimson Tide (-9.5)

Saturday, October 04, 03:30 PM EDT

The Alabama Crimson Tide escaped the Georgia Bulldogs on the road, 24-21. About a month ago, Alabama lost to Florida State on the road, and the fans were calling for Kalen DeBoer’s job

Now, he’s a head coaching star after knocking off Georgia. He pushed Alabama back to the top 10 with the win.

The run blocking hasn’t been superb, and the pass rush hasn’t done much on defense. That might not be an issue against Vanderbilt, which has struggled to protect in the passing game all season long.

Sure, Diego Pavia can escape pressure, but he’s facing some of the baddest defensive players in the SEC this weekend.

Texas Longhorns vs. Florida Gators (+6.5)

Saturday, October 04, 03:30 PM EDT

The Texas Longhorns opened up as 7.5-point favorites. However, they’ve been bet down to -6.5 (-120).

Neither team has a reliable quarterback. Arch Manning came into the season as a Heisman favorite for Texas. Yet, he’s struggled to be consistent and has a weird throwing motion that likely won’t work in big SEC games.

On the other hand, DJ Lagway finished with only 61 yards passing against Miami a couple of weeks ago. He threw so many interceptions against LSU that Florida was nervous to let him attempt many passes.

Miami Hurricanes vs. Florida State Seminoles (+4.5)

Saturday, October 04, 07:30 PM EDT

The Florida State Seminoles were looking like one of the best teams in the nation. After upsetting Alabama handily, the Seminoles quickly went up the rankings. However, last weekend, the Seminoles suffered a stunning loss against the Virginia Cavaliers on the road.

It’s hard to imagine the Florida State defense will be able to do enough to stop a surging, hot Miami offense led by Carson Beck. Both teams have been tested, but Miami has found a way to succeed. The only difference in this game is that the Hurricanes are on the road for the first time this year.

Florida State will likely bounce back. With a home crowd behind them, in an epic rivalry, look for the Seminoles to stick around.

More Exciting Action To Bet This Week!

The three biggest games of the slate are the ones listed above. I’m backing the home teams in two of the three games and prefer the under in the Texas-Florida game.

The Texas vs. Florida game was highly anticipated earlier this season. But with two underachieving quarterbacks, it’s hard to imagine that the game goes over.
