We’re getting closer and closer to the College Football Playoff. We’re already in Week 11, and the season ends at the end of the month.
This week, there are some incredibly huge matchups that will help decide conference championships and the CFP.
For example, No. 8 BYU will battle No. 9 Texas Tech in a huge Big 12 matchup. Meanwhile, Missouri will get an opportunity to get back in the CFP mix with a home game against the undefeated Texas A&M Aggies.
Also, maybe an upset could be brewing in Iowa, with the Hawkeyes facing the Oregon Ducks. We’ll talk about all three games below. Let’s break down the college football odds Week 11. The betting lines are all on BMR right now.
NCAAF Odds Week 11 At-a-Glance
We’re looking at the odds of the top three games this week. Although the Big 12 doesn’t get talked about enough, some of these teams have rosters capable of beating top-tier Big Ten or SEC teams. We’ll see which team can get through the battle of top-ten squads.
Plus, Missouri needs a win this weekend to stay alive in the SEC and CFP contention. A loss would mean Texas A&M is for real.
BYU Cougars vs. Texas Tech Red Raiders (-10.5)
Saturday, November 8 – 12:00 PM EST
The BYU Cougars got a bye week last week after a win over Iowa State, 41-27. The Cougars have started the season 8-0 behind freshman quarterback Bear Bachmeier. He’s got a 78.9 QBR and has thrown just three interceptions all year.
The Cougars’ running game is also super efficient. However, it might not be against Texas Tech. Texas Tech has allowed just 77.56 yards per game on the ground. The Red Raiders ultimately have one of the best defenses in the nation and have allowed only 13.22 points per game.
Meanwhile, Texas Tech has scored 43.56 points per game and has Behren Morton back under center. Morton and the Red Raiders have a better receiving core on paper, led by Caleb Douglas, a senior receiver with 41 catches for 594 yards.
Texas Tech should win outright and, analytically, look like a team that should also win by double-digits.
Texas A&M Aggies vs. Missouri Tigers (+7.5)
Saturday, November 8 – 3:30 PM EST
Once Texas A&M knocked off LSU on the road, many realized that the Aggies are legit. They’re 8-0 and ranked No. 3 in the nation. However, other than the road win over LSU, the Aggies haven’t looked excellent on the road this season. They’ve given up 40+ points to the Araksnas and Notre Dame on the road and were actually trailing LSU at the half.
LSU had no business being in that game, and it eventually folded under Brian Kelly, leading to his firing. Ultimately, the Aggies haven’t proved enough. They’re undefeated after a somewhat easy schedule. The win over Notre Dame was fascinating, but this team almost lost to Auburn the game after.
Missouri has lost two of its last three games and also struggled against Auburn. The Tigers have to settle with Matt Zollers at quarterback, which just isn’t ideal at all. He’s not going to make major plays like Beay Pribula.
Stick with Texas A&M. They’re beating up on bad teams, and Missouri isn’t as good as some might think.
Oregon Ducks vs. Iowa Hawkeyes (+5.5)
Saturday, November 8 – 3:30 PM EST
This is probably the most underrated game on the slate. Iowa isn’t ranked at 6-2. But with a win over Oregon, it would.
The Iowa Hawkeyes have allowed 13.13 points per game this season. They’ve given up 151 yards in the air and another 83.88 yards on the ground. Meanwhile, Oregon has scored more than 41 points per game this season. The offense is brilliant behind Dante Moore at quarterback. But his receivers aren’t up to Oregon caliber, which is exactly why Iowa’s defense can do enough to win this game.
This year, the Hawkeyes have scored more than 31 points per game. This is unlike Iowa. Now that the offense is clicking and the defense is playing well, this team has a whole lot of potential. Don’t be surprised if Iowa actually upsets the Ducks this weekend.
