Tampa Bay Buccaneers running back Bucky Irving’s status for the team’s Week 5 matchup against the Seattle Seahawks remains uncertain as he continues to recover from a sprained foot.
Head coach Todd Bowles stated Wednesday that Irving is considered day-to-day, and his availability this Sunday hinges on whether he can shed his walking boot by Friday.
Irving sustained the injury during Tampa Bay’s 31-25 loss to the Eagles in Week 4, and was seen on crutches at Wednesday’s practice. Fortunately, the injury isn’t considered long-term, giving hope for a prompt return.
However, with Tampa Bay hitting the road and entering the matchup as +3.5 underdogs, Irving’s presence would provide a needed boost to the offense. If the second-year running back is unable to play, the Buccaneers will likely lean on Rachaad White and Sean Tucker to carry the load out of the backfield as they face the Seahawks on Sunday, October 5.
