Week 2 of the college football season doesn’t have the same flash as Week 1, which had a battle between Texas and Ohio State, but there are intriguing spots to take a look at, particularly with regards to betting splits.
Read on to learn some exclusive insights from one of the top offshore sportsbooks in BookMaker, just in time for another full slate of college football.
Everyone is on Louisville
“James Madison is shaping up to be a decently sized sweat for us. We are heavy of professional and recreational action on Louisville laying between -13 to -14.5 points.”
— BookMaker.eu lines manager Jack S. tells BMR
Everyone is on the Cardinals following their dominant 51-17 win over Eastern Kentucky to kick off the 2025 season. This is a team that is returning 16 starters this season, so it’s surprise to see both public and sharp action aligned on Louisville in a home spot as a double-digit favorite per the latest college football odds.
As for the total, line movement has been pretty wild. The total opened at 57.5, went to 58.5, then back down to 55.5. Both public and sharp money is relatively evenly distributed here, so there’s not a lot of risk for the house here, according to BookMaker.
Sharps are all over Liberty
Shifting to Saturday’s action, where Liberty are sizeable road favorites against Jacksonville State. According to BookMaker, sharps are heavily targeting Liberty against the spread in this spot, while the public stays away from this game. Liberty quarterback Ethan Vasko looked sharp in Week 1, completing 15-of-22 passes for 197 yards and three touchdowns against Maine. The wise guys seem to think that he’ll build on that performance in Week 2.
Sharps are fading Western Michigan
The sharps are all over North Texas -9.5, which BMR has learned created a “medium sized sweat” for BookMaker, as the sportsbook is hoping for at least some Western Michigan action. This shouldn’t come as a surprise considering that we just saw North Texas pummel Lamar 51-0 last week. Meanwhile, Western Michigan couldn’t get anything going in a 23-6 loss to Michigan State. This is shaping up for a potential win for the sharps.
Two Major Sweats Looming for BookMaker
Even though it’s still relatively early in the week in terms of college football betting action, BookMaker tells BMR that both sharp and recreational money are on West Virginia against Ohio and Cincinnati over Bowling Green.
The Mountaineers are currently 3.5-point road favorites in Ohio, while the Bearcats are 21-point home favorites vs Bowling Green.
West Virginia is coming off a decisive victory over Robert Morris, while Cincinnati just is in a bounce back spot following a three-point home loss to Nebraska.
Sharps divided on Battle in Arkansas
“Arkansas State vs Arkansas is a match dividing not only the state but sharp money as well. 60% of sharp money is on the Razorbacks, but we are seeing significant buy back for the Red Wolves among our respected players”
— Jack. S of BookMaker told BMR
The spread is now Arkansas -23.5 at BookMaker, but is this too many points in their first ever meeting at War Memorial Stadium in this rivalry game? Time will tell, but the betting splits are intriguing to consider nonetheless.
