Boyd Gaming recently announced that it was planning for a March opening of Cadence Crossing, a casino development in East Henderson, several months before its previously projected mid-summer debut.

Mirroring the Community

Cadence is Henderson, Nevada’s newest planned community, and it is roughly 20 minutes south of Las Vegas. Close enough to where all the action is but far enough away to get a breather from the hustle and bustle of North America’s gambling mecca.

Expanding In Henderson

And it is safe to say that Boyd Gaming C-suite executives are bullish on the area, which is why they are investing millions in Cadence Crossing, which will replace the Jokers Wild casino off of Boulder Highway and Warm Springs Road. Boyd Gaming believes the area will continue to flourish as new homes crop up, and the company has room to grow on its 15-acre parcel.

Boyd Gaming President and CEO Keith Smith said the company plans to open Cadence Crossing in late March, adding, “With significant land still available at Cadence Crossing for future development, we will have the opportunity to expand this property to meet growing demand.”

Smith also added, “The adjacent community of Cadence is growing rapidly, with more than 1,200 new homes sold in 2025 alone. This is the third-best sales performance of any master-planned community in the country. With strong residential growth continuing throughout the neighborhood, we believe Cadence Crossing casino will be well-positioned to deliver a strong return for our investment.”

This is Boyd’s first development in more than 20 years, and the 50,000-square-foot project will feature a 10,000-square-foot casino. Although Boyd has declined to put a specific cost on the Cadence Crossing endeavor, it should be noted that the company did acknowledge that it was spending $100 million to update its properties across the nation.

Boyd Announces Record Year

It was a banner year for Boyd Gaming, and if 2026 is as good as 2025, there will be plenty more for the company to celebrate. Boyd reported record revenue of $4.09 billion for 2025, despite a dip in net income year-over-year in the fourth quarter.

Las Vegas Locals Business Slows

Yet, the diminished foot traffic in Las Vegas did not go unnoticed, with Boyd reporting a $6 million decline in lodging revenue in its area properties, namely The Orleans, its off-strip resort. As many Las Vegas operators have stated, the locals continue to patronize the casinos, but the tourism traffic waned noticeably in 2025.

“This growth in gaming revenue would have been even stronger if not for the softness in destination business in the quarter,” Smith said.

But Smith is not giving up on Sin City, stating, “We remain confident in the long-term prospects for our Las Vegas locals’ business.”

Expansion Plans

In addition to the $100 million in upgrades to its properties, Boyd also announced that it was investing $160 million into redeveloping its Par-A-Dice casino in Illinois, where the company is seeking approval to relocate the property to a permanently moored barge on the Illinois River.

“This will significantly enhance the competitiveness and appeal of Par-A-Dice, positioning us for incremental long-term growth at this property,” Smith said.
