They won for two reasons, prime Curry and Thompson. Other players, along with Kerr, were window dressing.

Prime Draymond shut people down. I know everybody hates Draymond and I know he isn't a big offensive threat but the guy can't be overlooked on defense. He is arguably a top 5 defender of all time and a huge reason why the Warriors won 4 titles but people will never give him his due because of Steph, Klay and later on KD.

Green in that system was critical on both ends. His screens and passing after getting the ball from a Steph after a double team was textbook. He fit that system well. Now the system seems broken because the players aren’t as good. The death lineup was potent. Draymond has beat up more players than anyone since the Bad Boy Pistons

Lambier and Mahorn were the enforcers of those DET teams. Chuck Daly the Capt.

Mahorn, despite his defensive prowess, wasn't too important to the Pistons' success. Two days after the first title, they left him off their list of eight protected players and he was taken in the expansion draft by Minnesota; the Pistons repeated without him. I see Green as being very similar, a good player but put him on an average team and he won't look so good.
