The Lakers stink but Malik Monk has been one of their few bright spots this season. Monk scored 23 points on 9 of 17 shooting against the Pelicans last Sunday. The Lakers lost 116-108 on the road after blowing a big lead and they wasted big games from LeBron and Monk.
With Anthony Davis not quite ready to return and LeBron James possibly out, the Lakers will lean on Russell Westbrook and Malik Monk against the Mavericks. Stanley Johnson and Carmelo Anthony would also see a bump in minutes.
Monk has scored at least 17 points in three of his last four games and the Mavericks are giving up 19.1 points against shooting guards this season. LeBron had 39 points against the Pelicans and Monk still attempted 17 shots in 29 minutes. If LeBron misses this game Monk will have even more playing time and chances to score.
