It's a game of specialists now, not just in position and batting.

There different pitching specialties and whenever any pitcher is in the game they are supposed to go all out, so they don't pitch as long with relievers stepping in earlier.

Not to mention, data shows that a pitcher facing a batting order for the third time will have a dropoff in effectiveness, this is an analytic that leads to pulling pitchers early as well.
