Kidd - Luka > Dirk - in MJ realm

Jason Kidd saying Luka is better than Dirk, best to put on a Mavs uni and in the realm of MJ.

Ok. 3 different things there - first 2 are debatable - need to see him a few more years I think before we call it a foregone conclusion on the first 2.

3rd is laughable at this point to me - MJ realm is the stratosphere of talent. He ain’t there - no one with any basketball IQ is suggesting Luka belongs in the all time top 10. Not even top 25.

Is he rising - yes - could he break top 25 by end of career - possibly. But MJ level - no / short of Kobe not many this generation on par.

Luka is a hell of a basketball talent but he has a way to go towards passing Dirk for best Maverick ever. Lets not even disrespect Jordan by putting Luka in the Jordan realm yet. If he wins a championship then and only then would I put him on the same level as Dirk.

Again - of course he’s gonna say his current superstar is “the best ever” - no issues with that - stoking the guys ego and all.

But you don’t come out with a foolish take calling him an all time great. He’s had a week that’s on par with the best scorers ever. That’s it - lots of guys have had good weeks/months / less have great years and until you’ve done it for a decade - such talk just makes you sound stupid.

Jordan was a great because he could score AND defend. His first couple of years he was a defensive liability - then he worked on becoming complete. I mean lots of guys were great scorers - but never played defense. Luka is a step below those who have done it for a career at this point.

Win a championship or two and was the team - then your complete. You gotta be more than a single dimensional player. John Starks was a great scorer - but no one calls him his teams greatest player.

Kidd a great player who always seemed to be dealt - the kind of talent smart people were willing to give up that proved too elusive for dumb people to say no to. Great stats - but did nothing but build those stats off guys who would shoot the ball all day if you let them.

As a coach - showed that same attitude. Sometimes brains and talent are 2 very separate traits. You can have loads of one and little of the other. He’s a players coach - because he understands the childish mindset of todays player - posses it himself.

OR ANYONE in the same breath as MJ

And that includes you know who (The one who appoints himself greatest)
There's only one player I ever saw that reminded me of Jordan and that was the late great Kobe Bryant. Kobe was a fierce competitor with a similar killer instinct that Jordan possessed. Nobody in today's game comes close to Jordan imo but again that depends on who you ask. The 20 something crowd will point to Lebron and defend him they're blue in the face despite only having seen Jordan play on youtube highlight videos.

Yep anyone who has seen both Michael & Lebron play know the answer is easily Jordan and it's not even close

Also I agree Kobe is the closest we've seen to Jordan

I'm not saying Kobe is better all-around than Lebron, but Kobe had that same killer instinct, heart, and style of play as MJ

Lebron is a very good player who physically is equipped to play long term in the NBA.

Kind of like how Kareem was a very good player who played a long time - so did Moses Malone.

Playing a long time at a high level isn’t easy - but it doesn’t make you the “greatest” either. It makes you someone who accumulates stats that are impressive in their totality.

Does a lot all around - but give him role players and he doesn’t do anything spectacularly - other than maybe cry out for foul calls. I mean Jordan had ONLY role players and they found a way to win championships - Magic the same thing (with better role players) during the showtime era and made it work.

Best you got from Lebron was the championship he won in Cleveland - give Jordan/Magic or any other great player that team replacing Lebron and they win a ring too. He’s good / but not the greatest.
