I swear I am not a plant murderer haha. So to cut the story short, I started to collect plants lately but no matter what I do they die.

My landlady asks me to look out for her plants while she was away for a month, but I noticed today that there's something wrong with the leaves, that's 2 days after she left it to me. I did not even touch it yet but it looks like it's already dying.

Am I being cursed?

I'm not 100%, but that looks like a fungal disease in the top photo. Overwatering is the likely culprit imo. To fix the problem I recommend looking up the type of plant to look for a remedy (that will probably involve repotting +fungicide or sulfur )... which may be more expensive than just buying your friend a new plant.

Just my opinion... GL with the plants.

OMG! Thank you for your suggestion, 2the9s. And the fungal disease common in plants?

Yeah, I think I'll just go find a new same plant. Thought I already message her about it with a picture so she will not think I killed or left it behind lol

I'm far from an expert, but I do know that certain plants are very vulnerable to it.

The best way I know to protect house plants is to not water too much and make sure that the pot has good drainage. For most plants a pot that has holes in the bottom and putting a layer of rocks on the bottom before adding the soil will drain well enough to prevent fungus. Sterilizing garden tools can help keep disease from spreading from plant to plant. GL!

Tsk tsk. No wonder. I did not consider these things. My pot has holes on the bottom but with a pot plate where the water will just block at the bottom, with no good drainage.

Not tyring to be mean but, how do you kill a cactus?:lmao: I mean it barely needs any water.

The only way I know how (without herbicide) is to over water and get root rot.
I hope you have better luck with the other plants.
