There is an article on ESPN about Jaden Rashada (QB prospect) and how his NIL deal fell through. I wondered how the NIL money was handled and this story somewhat explains it. Its done through "COLLECTIVES".

Collectives - are alumni or other booster clubs that gather up millions to make offers to players to play at the school the collective supports. They supposedly have no affiliation with the school or the football programs (yeah right).

Jared Rashada, a hot prospect, verbally agreed to go to Miami then backed out and signed letter of intent to go to Florida. He was to have a $13M NIL deal at Florida. Apparently the money fell through and he wanted out of his letter of intent, which was allowed. He's back, available to the highest bidder.

I think we can expect to hear more stories like this.

Looks like this NIL thing is just creating problems and developing more future divas.
Exactly.

I'm wondering if there are contracts signed by the player and the "collectives" guaranteeing the NIL money. I could see a kid sign, go to play for a college, be a bust, and the collective says we aren't going to pay. Lawsuits galore.

I’d make sure and get most of the $$ up front if I was a top recruit.

It sounds like this company that signed him to $13mil might have had $$ problems and been unable to pay

I bet this is going to happen often.
It kind of screwed the kid on his recruiting. He probably had a decent offer from Miami. Now it sounds like he may have to "settle" for Arizona or Washington.

It’s nice guaranteed money for a kid if they invest it wisely. I’m sure a lot will waste it though just like pro athletes do

So many top recruits don’t pan out and even make it to the pros

Wasn’t A&M interested? They had a mass exodus after the season. They have tons of NIL $$ too

Good point. The amount of money available for Tx A&M NIL must be tens of millions.

I'm guessing prospects turn them down because aren't thrilled with A&M's performance and want to play for a winning team immediately. But,...... Monday talks so maybe they'll do better.

As a recently graduated student from a pretty rich family must say that this guy is crazy. I'm also playing football and that's hard to get such a skill level as Jaden, but $13M for a student... What's in his head, that's unbelievable. The must of us tried to find the last money to pay for some uni papers (fortunately, there are a lot of free sources such as https://happyessays.com/free-essays/persepolis/ with all info we need, but there was nothing when I started education). Is this price tamping worth it? Isn't he scared to lose all?

I don't think Jaden "backed-out" on Florida. I think he decided to look elsewhere because the $13M wasn't going to happen. The story doesn't say for sure what the NIL offer ended up being.

But you are right. What's this kid thinking?
