I thought I'd give some thoughts/stats on a few of the "BIGGER" CFB matchups each weekend. The 3-4 games selected each week will be based on what I see as the more leveraging games that have public interest, close lines, between rival teams, or potential implications to the national title. They may/may not be on my card.

This week's games with writeups:
:checkmark Ohio St Vs Penn St.
:checkmark Okla St. Vs Kanas St. (coming soon in separate thread).
:checkmark Kentucky vs Tenn (Wager already has thread on this one so I will pass on it)

If you'd like to suggest a game let me know.

COMMENT WITH YOUR TAKE ON THE GAME.... Lets get some conversations going on these games.

Ohio St at Penn St. Line: Ohio St -15

  • Ohio State is one of the best teams in the country. #1 offense, #5 defense. Averaging over 500 ypg while allowing only 240 ypg. But, without a doubt, this will be Ohio State's biggest challenge so far this year. But, I can't see Penn State being able to stop Ohio State's run or pass. Their rush D is 58th and pass D is 62nd in the country.

  • Ohio State has an average winning margin of 34.7 ppg. Aside from the ND season opener in which they won by 11, the next closest game was 29 point win over Mich St. The only team Penn State has played that is remotely close to the performance level of Ohio State, is Michigan and they lost by 24 on the road.

  • Also, I can't see Ohio State "overlooking" this game. Their schedule is a cakewalk from here (NW, Ind, Maryland) before playing Michigan at home to end the season. They will be taking this game seriously.

Interesting stat: Ohio State has scored 100% of the time they are the red zone with 86% of those possessions resulting in a TD. Penn State has scored 96% of the time in red zone with 80% resulting in TDs.

Selection: The 13-15 point line appears about right statisically but I think there is a real possibility of Ohio State blowing this game wide open. IMO that is more likely than Penn St. keeping it close. The game is not on my card but if it were, I'd be laying the points.

i'm predicting a 34-9 win for Ohio State in this one. michigan killed penn state when they played so i don't think they are good enough to upset the buckeyes.
I could easily see that happening. Penn St. beat Minn easily last week but I don't think they have a chance to hang with Ohio St. I've still not added the game to my card but I am considering it the more I ponder.

I'm on Ohio St. - 15.5 -108 BetOnline.
This should be a blowout IMO. Ohio State is just at another level compared to Penn St.
