'Really Bad Timing' – The Puma Is A Race Day Scratch From Kentucky Derby​

Grade 3 Tampa Bay Derby winner The Puma has been scratched from the Kentucky Derby just hours before the race due to a minor skin infection on one of his legs.

Trainer Gustavo Delgado confirmed the scratch to Churchill Downs’ Kevin Kerstein on Saturday morning.

“We discovered some swelling in his leg due to a skin infection,” Delgado told Kerstein. “It’s incredibly disappointing but the swelling should go down within a day or two. It’s just really bad timing.”
