This USED to be true a few years ago, but as more and more sophisticated bettors have entered the market with the wealth of information available online, I would no longer call this a blanket statement, especially in NFL and NBA.

That is quite possible, the playoffs is when the public can actually move lines due to the sheer dollars bet, unlike the regular season when it is almost purely sharp action moving lines.
