Ann Hodges is the only person in recorded history to be hit by a meteorite. The meteorite struck her in her home in Sylacauga, Alabama on November 30, 1954.

What happened?

• Hodges was taking a nap when the meteorite crashed through her roof and hit her in the side.
• The meteorite left a grapefruit-sized bruise.
• Hodges was taken to the hospital for nervous distress as well as physical injury.
• The meteorite was confiscated by the police chief.
• Hodges later donated the meteorite to the Alabama Museum of Natural History.
