hoping later today, we really dodged a bullet feel for the people south of us so much damage, i heard sanibel island is really bad and the bridge going on off is un passable

DEVELOPING REPORT: [Florida] 50 foot section of the Sanibel Island Causeway Bridge HAS BEEN DESTROYED by Hurricane Ian – Purportedly leaving any of it's 6,000 residents who stayed – COMPLETELY CUT OFF from the mainland...
Cut off from the mainland?? Oh jeez praying for them. How long to get that fixed??

Things went sideways in North Naples yesterday afternoon. Nothing like Fort Myers or Port Charlotte, but we finally decided to leave for Palm Beach (my father's house). No power, Water or cell for who knows how long which can be tough in SW Florida. Had a friend in Fort Myers Beach who lost her home and thought she was about an hour or so from drowning if she didn't get help from a neighbor.

Let me ask something. I can’t figure out how people get caught in these storms and don’t leave their homes. Why stay if you’re in the eye? What are you proving by staying? You put other lives in danger of emergency services need to come save you. Enlighten me

me personally, i see it as my home so i'll stay to protect my home and things. but there does a point where there's nothing you can do anymore. also people don't always have another place to go to, or maybe can not afford to travel somewhere else

Like for real. We are glad nothing bad happened to him and to his camera man but so scary.. never ever try to play games with mother nature.
