I don't think this is a huge deal. Everyone 18-25 already had to register.

This just makes it automatic via government records instead of "requiring" men to go through the process to sign up at 18 y.o..

But, it does kind of make you think, why implement this now? Is someone planning on yet starting another war?

Yeah, as I understand it they are just streamlining a process that was already in place.

I don't think we can read much more into it.

If we get involved in a war where we need to draft meat grinder troops then we're all in big trouble...
