Sorry for the late write up this week.
Been a busy week. Light weekend racing-wise due to Easter. NASCAR Cup is off and F1 is off an entire month until Miami.
Trucks (Friday 4:30 pm ET) and O’Reilly’s (2:30 pm ET) are in action at Rockingham.
NASCAR returned to The Rock last year after a 20-year hiatus. One-mile track with some pretty exciting racing last year. Multi-grooves and steep bankings leads to side-by-side racing.
Defending champs are Tyler Amkrum in trucks and Sammy Smith in O’Reilly’s. So a couple of long shots hit in 2025, meaning anything can happen here.
Only bet I have so far is a straight bet on Layne Riggs to win the Trucks race at $198 to win $989. (Hit a couple of winners today so $148 of the bet paid for with Dougy Math
Riggs dominated parts of the trucks race here last year, sweeping the first two stages, but a bad late pit strategy cost him a shot at the win.
I’ve seen Riggs’ odds as low as +135 to win, which seems extremely low, and as high as +300 some other places. But right now he’s averaging about +200.
Hocevar and Heim will be contenders sliding down from Cup to race trucks once again. But just have a feeling about Riggs as he does well on mile tracks.
I haven’t played anything in O’Reilly’s yet. Allgaier will likely be favored the rest of the year on the ovals except in the races the likes of Larson, Bell or Byron race in the series. This week he’s in the +240 range.
