This week, our golf expert @EdwardsTips_ takes an early look at the PGA Championship that begins on May 15, bringing his best futures bets to readers.
The PGA Championship
May 12 – 18, 2025 at Quail Hollow
May 15th sees the second major championship of the golf season, the PGA Championship, played at the Quail Hollow Golf Club, a course well known to players and fans alike as the regular host of the Wells Fargo Championship.
Two-time PGA Champion, Rory McIlroy, will be a strong favorite at the top of the betting market with his career record at Quail Hollow in the Wells Fargo and arriving off his Masters triumph.
Course Notes
- Par 71, 7600 yards
- Charlotte, North Carolina
- Designers: George Cobb in 1961, modified by Arnold Palmer in 1986. Four redesigns by Tom Fazio.
- Greens are Bermuda Champion G-12
- Course record holder – Rory McIlroy 61 (2015)
- Long and accurate off the tee is a prerequisite for Quail Hollow, where elite golfers have dominated on most occasions over the 22-year history of PGA Tour events.
Tyrrell Hatton Offers Off-the-Radar Value
This is a great opportunity for Englishman Tyrrell Hatton to win his first major championship. The LIV golfer arrives in good form after finishing fifth at last week’s event in Mexico, once again demonstrating his consistency on the Saudi-backed tour.
However, it is Hatton’s sneaky form at Quail Hollow in the past that piqued my attention, particularly when he was 3rd here in 2023 at the Wells Fargo Championship.
Followers and readers of my column may recall how, during the Masters, I highlighted a growing bias in the betting market against LIV golfers — a trend that now sees the 33-year-old Englishman priced at +4000 with our recommended sportsbooks.
Factoring in the two times Hatton has ventured from the LIV Tour this year, he won the Dubai Desert Classic and was 14th at the Masters. It could be argued his price would have been no bigger than (+2800) if he weren’t off the sportsbooks’ radar at LIV.
Given his consistency, at BMR, we are recommending you take a top 10 props bet and outright win on Tyrrell Hatton at BetOnline who have an extensive range of props markets available.

Take the Masters’ Clues About Max
Max Homa has been seriously in the doldrums for over a year now, but his performance at the Masters was an eye-catching reminder of the class ball striker with silky putting skills.
There is no doubt that when a player has been under a cloud it is often a step-by-step reconstruction of their confidence before they are once again able to compete at the top of the sport. What’s never been in doubt, however, is Homa’s class as a closer, because when an opportunity to win tournaments has presented itself over the years, he has been known to grab them with both hands and is one of the few players whose game improves for being in contention.
With his confidence buoyed after the Masters, the thirty-four-year-old Californian will be delighted that the second major championship of 2025 is played at one of his favourite tracks, where he won his maiden PGA Tour title in 2019.
For our Max Homa bet for the PGA Championship, we cannot lean on his consistency like Hatton. Therefore, it is the case of small bets on his outright price of (+8000) combined with a top 5 finish.
