This week at BMR, we continue our build-up to the PGA Championship at Quail Hollow with our golf betting expert @EdwardsTips_ bringing your props and sleeper picks for the year’s second major championship.
The PGA Championship
May 12 – 18, 2025 at Quail Hollow
May 15th sees the second major championship of the golf season, the PGA Championship, played at the Quail Hollow Golf Club, a course well known to players and fans alike as the regular host of the Wells Fargo Championship.
Two-time PGA Champion, Rory McIlroy, will be a strong favorite at the top of the betting market with his career record at Quail Hollow in the Wells Fargo and arriving off his Masters triumph.
Course Notes
- Par 71, 7600 yards
- Charlotte, North Carolina
- Designers: George Cobb in 1961, modified by Arnold Palmer in 1986. Four redesigns by Tom Fazio.
- Greens are Bermuda Champion G-12
- Course record holder – Rory McIlroy 61 (2015)
- Long and accurate off the tee is a prerequisite for Quail Hollow, where elite golfers have dominated on most occasions over the 22-year history of PGA Tour events.
Back Brian Harman for Top Lefty and Outright Winner
When looking through the props markets for the PGA Championship, headfirst to the “Top Left-hander” prop and dive in with the 2023 Open Champion, Brian Harman.
The diminutive golfer from Georgia has an attractive profile heading into Quail Hollow, having caught fire when winning the Valero Texas Open, followed by a third place at the recent Heritage Classic.
Yes, much of the interest in the outright market will rightly revolve around the head of the market and the strong chances held by Scottie Scheffler and Rory McIlroy. That said, we need to taper down our expectations that he may win a second major title, but at (+12500) his price is too big to turn down for small stakes.
For a bigger stake and to balance variance, Harman will have an attractive price in Top Lefthander with Robert MacIntyre and Akshay Bhatia expected to be above him in the market.
For the Top Left-Hander props market, BetOnline is our recommended sportsbook. They will take your bet along with his outright price at our other trusted firm, Bovada.

Keep an Eye on Rickie Fowler and Joel Dahmen for Quail Hollow
There are several Quail Hollow specialists that I have been following all season with an eye on the PGA Championship.
One of them is Rickie Fowler, the 2012 course winner, who has evidenced his liking for the Tom Fazio design over many years. Sadly, the thirty-six-year-old Californian has yet to find his best game despite threatening to do so all year.
Given his solid course record at Quail Hollow, I also have Joel Dahmen on my radar for the props markets. The Netflix-popular golfer with a cult following needs to re-find his mojo quickly, having thrown away the Corales Puntacana Championship in mid-April.
Can Rose Finally Bloom at Quail?
Another sleeper for props markets would be Tommy Fleetwood, who has put together three solid efforts at the track, finishing in the top 20 on each occasion. That will be a solid bet to consider, but for this preview, we will concentrate on the fellow Englishman, Justin Rose.
No one in the sport bounces back better than the 2013 U.S. Open champion, and after the disappointment of his sudden death play-off defeat to Rory McIlroy at the Masters, he will once again have to show his resolve.
Three top 5 finishes illustrate how Quail Hollow is a course well suited to the forty-four-year-old, which is a huge positive for his chances of doing so once again. Rose has been around the block so much in his long-esteemed career that, after listening to his press conference post Masters disappointment, he still found the positives in the fact that, with the help of his team, he feels ready to win a major championship again.
Therefore, I am more confident that Rose will bounce back from his recent disappointments. And let’s not forget that, at the final major championship of 2024, the Brit contended prominently, eventually finishing runner-up to Xander Schauffele.
Justin Rose is a boom-or-bust golfer who thrives in contention and the spotlight; therefore, the BetOnline’s Top 5 makes appeal combined with the first-round leader, a market that Rose won at Augusta for a remarkable fifth time in his career.
Golf Pick: Justin Rose for a Top 5 Finish (+2000) at BetOnline
Golf Pick: Justin Rose To Be First Round Leader (+6600) at Bovada
