Top NFL Pick: Ashton Jeanty’s Draft Position – Over 6.5 (+400) at BetOnline (visit our BetOnline Review)
Boise State’s Ashton Jeanty is the top running back in the 2025 NFL Draft, and the odds are not even close at the top-rated sportsbooks. However, where he will ultimately land is still fodder for the league’s rumor mill.
1. Ashton Jeanty, RB (Boise State – 92.5 Player Rating)
After a dominating sophomore season in which Ashton Jeanty chewed up 1,347 rushing yards and snatched 569 receiving yards, earning his first Mountain West Offensive Player of the Year honor, more of the same was expected last season.
However, Jeanty exceeded everyone’s expectations and rewrote history in 2024. As a quick recap of his last season, these are some of his milestones:
- Led all FBS running backs with 2,601 rushing yards and 29 touchdowns on the ground.
- Boasted a seven-yard per carry average for the season
- Broke a 46-year-old school record with 267 yards and six touchdowns in his first game of the year against Georgia Southern.
Although Jeanty was a runner-up to Travis Hunter for the Heisman Trophy Award, he did receive his flowers in the form of being chosen as:
- Unanimous All-American
- A Maxwell Award winner
- A Doak Walker Award recipient.
- The Mountain West Offensive Player of the Year for the second consecutive season.
BetOnline has several prop bets on Jeanty that we will explore below.
2. Omarion Hampton, RB (North Carolina – 87.3 Player Rating)
Omarion Hampton could have gone anywhere after a prolific high school career that saw offers from national powerhouses like Ohio State, Penn State and Michigan. However, the native North Carolinian chose to stay close to home and took his talents to Chapel Hill, home of the UNC Tar Heels.
Needless to say, it was a wise choice and one that could see Hampton being chosen late in the first round.
Hampton began finding his footing in his sophomore season when he amassed over 1,500 yards and 15 touchdowns, earning him a spot as a Walter Camp First-Team All-American and finishing as a Doak Walker Award finalist. But it was his junior season in 2024 that put him on the map with:
- 1,660 rushing yards
- 15 TDs
- 373 receiving yards
- A pair of trips into the end zone via receptions
Hampton leaves UNC having 100 rushing yards or more in 16 games over three seasons and ranking ninth in career rushing yards (2,911) and sixth in rushing touchdowns with 30.

3. Kaleb Johnson, RB (Iowa – 86.4 Player Rating)
In this day and age of shifty scat backs dominating NFL backfields, we sometimes see a bigger body that harkens back to the days of powerful, bruising backs like Jerome Bettis, or, a more contemporary example, Derrick Henry.
Nobody is comparing Kaleb Johnson to either of these legendary players, but at 6’1” and 224 pounds, he could be the hammer some offenses need to get those few extra yards.
However, if Johnson were to become a superstar at the next level, it wouldn’t shock his fans who saw him author the best rushing season in Iowa history, smashing his way to 1,537 yards and setting dual single-season school records with 21 rushing TDs and 23 total trips inside the end zone.
Johnson was named a first-team All-American and won the Ameche-Dayne Big Ten Running Back of the Year award. Reports are that Johnson will drift into the middle of the second round.
4. Treveyon Henderson, RB (Ohio State – 86.0 Player Rating)
Henderson had his best season as a freshman when he ran for 1,248 yards and 15 touchdowns while notching 312 receiving yards and catching four touchdown receptions. Nagging injuries hampered Henderson in his sophomore and junior seasons, but he still tallied nearly 1,500 yards and 17 rushing touchdowns combined over those two years.
Henderson’s 2024 campaign was one in which he and the Buckeyes finally landed a national championship title after a 10-year drought. The Virginia native rushed for over 1000 yards and had 10 rushing TDs in his final season as a member of the Buckeyes.
Henderson’s injury issues give teams cause for pause, but he is likely to be tapped somewhere in the late second to mid-third round.
5. Dylan Sampson, RB (Tennessee – 85.7 Player Rating)
Dylan Sampson is a dynamic scat back who posted a 4.42 40-yard dash time at the Combine and can be dangerously elusive coming out of the backfield. But Sampson didn’t get to show off full-time in Knoxville until last season when he became the Volunteers’ starting running back.
Sampson proceeded to make the most of his opportunity and shattered Tennessee records for:
- Rushing yards (1,491)
- Rushing touchdowns (22)
- Total touchdowns (22)
- Consecutive games with a rushing score (11)
That led to him being named the SEC Offensive Player of the Year and a second-team All-American. Sampson is considered a late second-round selection in April’s draft.
