Must-Have Players in NFL DFS for Super Bowl LVI (Archive)

Originally published on February 11, 2022

Most of the time, when you’re playing a fantasy football slate, you’ll be able to select more than just one game. But because this Sunday is the Super Bowl, there’s only one game to choose from. I’m going to provide you with the list of players that you should go after to win your DFS Tournament on Sunday for Super Bowl LVI between the Cincinnati Bengals and the Los Angeles Rams.

Joe Burrow

Joe Burrow isn’t going to be cheap, but he’s still cheaper than Matthew Stafford. Burrow is expected to throw a ton in Sunday’s game. Most people expect the Bengals to get down early. If that’s the case, Burrow will be throwing.

In all three playoff games, Burrow has thrown at least 34 times and has at least 23 completions. He’s also completed 68.8 percent of his passes and has thrown for four touchdowns in those three games.

The offensive line is expected to collapse for the Bengals in this game going up against the Rams, but outside of that game against the Titans, Burrow was only sacked three times in the other two games combined. Burrow has so many weapons and he’ll have to find them quickly. The receivers can do the rest down the field including Ja’Marr Chase, who won Rookie of the Year.

Cam Akers

If you’re looking for a running back, Cam Akers is likely your guy. The Bengals weren’t great against the run all year long and the expectation is that Akers gets a ton of carries in this one, especially if the Rams are leading at the beginning of this game.

Akers is less than Mixon in DFS and was a full practice participant on Thursday so you know he’s healthy enough to go and play in this game. Now, Akers hasn’t been a stud since returning and has barely been able to pick up yards, but the volume suggests the Super Bowl could be a breakout performance.

Tee Higgins

Most lineups are going to have Ja’Marr Chase, Cooper Kupp, and Odell Beckham Jr., but the forgotten man Tee Higgins deserves some recognition. Higgins has 19 targets in the last two games with just under 200 yards receiving.

Sure, he doesn’t have a touchdown, but with his body frame and hands, he’s going to be a target around the end zone against the Bengals, knowing that Jalen Ramsey will be playing his best football against Ja’Marr Chase. Higgins is averaging nearly 15 yards per reception and bounced out for a 44-yard reception against the Chiefs two weeks ago.

C.J. Uzomah

If you need a tight end for your DFS lineup, C.J. Uzomah is your guy. He and Tyler Higbee of the Rams are questionable to play, but I’d be much more confident in Uzomah actually playing this game over Higbee.

If Higbee or Uzomah is out, other options are Kendall Blanton of the Rams and Drew Sample of the Bengals, but ultimately, it sounds like Uzomah is going to be good to go for the Super Bowl. He’ll have targeted his way. He’s a vocal leader that wants to get involved a little bit.
