Editor’s Note: Le felt extra pumped up for UFC 276 so she submitted a third pick, this last one for the Strickland vs. Pereira bout. Article updated on Saturday, July 2nd.
With two UFC championship titles on the line, UFC 276 is a card you do not want to miss.
The first title bout will consist of Alexander Volkanovski defending his title for the third time against Max Holloway. Headlining the card, Israel Adesanya will then defend his title against a mighty contender, Jared Cannonier.
Throughout this entire card, there is a lot of hidden value. For this week, I’m keeping a close eye on:
- Robbie Lawler vs. Bryan Barberena
- Sean Strickland vs. Alex Pereira
- Alexander Volkanovski vs. Max Holloway

Robbie Lawler vs. Bryan Barberena
UFC Welterweight Main Card Bout
Saturday, July 2, 2022 – 09:25 PM EDT at T-Mobile Arena
Robbie Lawler Analysis
Robbie “Ruthless” Lawler is an American mixed martial artist with a current professional record of 29 wins (21 T/KO, 1 Submission, 7 Decisions) and 15 losses (3 T/KO, 5 Submissions, 7 Decisions).
As given in his nickname, Robbie Lawler has been a ruthless veteran inside the UFC promotion. In his prime, Lawler was unstoppable with his striking. 72% of his victories have been knockouts. Now, at 40 years old, we have seen Lawler’s power deteriorate, but will he have enough power and accuracy against Barberena?
Bryan Barberena Analysis
Bryan “Bam Bam” Barberena is an American mixed martial artist with a current professional record of 17 wins (10 T/KO, 2 Submissions, 5 Decisions) and 8 losses (2 T/KO, 1 Submission, 5 Decisions).
Bam Bam is another powerful striker that has struggled to have a consistent UFC career. He has been working on his accuracy, and also his ability to keep the fight standing.
Lawler vs. Barberena Fight Odds
The value with Barberena is fully there. Although he has not had a consistent footing inside the UFC, he has grown with his skills and also holds an advantage with his age.
Lawler vs. Barberena Betting Prediction
As mentioned above, Lawler’s age is a factor that worries me in this matchup. In his prime, Lawler would have been able to stop any opponent in front of him. Now, he is 2-5 in his last 7 bouts and is inching closer toward retirement.
Barberena should be able to control the pace of this fight making this a technical bout until the cards. In that case, I will side with the younger, sharper striker in Barberena.
Sean Strickland vs. Alex Pereira
UFC Middleweight Main Card Bout
Saturday, July 02, 2022 – 10:35 PM EDT at T-Mobile Arena
Strickland vs. Pereira Betting Preview
We have two very talented strikers in this matchup, and at your top-rated sportsbooks, they are evenly priced with UFC odds at -110 across the board.
Getting Strickland at dog or even value with Pereira is a steal, in my opinion. Both fighters are vicious in their own ways, and pack a hefty punch that can end a fight early.
Four out of five of Pereira’s victories have been by T/KO, and I fully expect him to be on the hunt for Strickland’s head. However, Strickland’s durability is impressive. Not only is Strickland durable, he is incredibly powerful as well.
Strickland vs. Pereira Best Bet
The difference between him and Pereira you ask? Strickland’s cardio. Watching Pereira keep pace with Strickland should be interesting, plus I have yet to see Pereira compete against someone at Strickland's experience and level.
Strickland is a killer and should be able to keep the pace of this fight.
UFC Pick: Sean Strickland ML (-110) at BetOnline
Alexander Volkanovski vs. Max Holloway III
UFC Featherweight co-main Event Bout
Saturday, July 2, 2022 - 10:00 PM EDT at the T-Mobile Arena
Alexander Volkanovski Analysis
Alexander “The Great” Volkanovski is an Australian mixed martial artist with a current professional record of 24 wins (12 T/KO, 3 Submissions, 9 Decisions) and 1 loss (1 T/KO).
With a background in Greco-Roman wrestling and BJJ, Volkanovski is an exceptionally sharp boxer and kickboxer. As seen in his previous bouts against Holloway, Volkanovski will be able to win a technical bout.
Max Holloway Analysis
Max “Blessed” Holloway is an American mixed martial artist with a current professional record of 23 wins (10 T/KO, 2 Submissions, 11 Decisions) and 6 losses (1 Submission, 5 Decisions).
Holloway is a heavy-hitting puncher that has fallen short against Volkanovski in two previous bouts, both by decision.
Volkanovski vs. Holloway III Fight Odds
The defending champion is favored once again by the oddsmakers at -195, and Holloway is the underdog at +170.
These odds make complete sense since this is their third time meeting inside the octagon and Volk has the upperhand with two victories.
Volkanovski vs. Holloway III Betting Prediction
Although it’s hard for me to fade Holloway, it’s even harder for me to fade Volkanovski. The Great has two victories over Holloway and I see him closing off this trilogy with another victory Saturday night.
In their last outing, there were some visible improvements on Holloway’s end. But surprisingly, also on Volkanoski’s end. The Great implements more leg kicks into his boxing.
His speed is another factor that's hard to beat. The champion is able to cut angles and land more technical strikes. Holloway is one of the best strikers in the division that should be able to keep up with the pace of the champion.
I will give the edge once again to the champion. His speed, agility, power, strong wrestling skills, and overall fight IQ will assist him in another victory. And since both fighters have great cardio and durability, I see this fight ending at the scorecards.
UFC Pick: Alexander Volkanovski by Points (+105) at BetOnline
