Can we get a competitive game in the NBA’s Eastern Conference Finals? The series between the Celtics and Heat resumes in Miami on Wednesday tied 2-2.

Here are three-player NBA prop picks on the matchup with odds from BetOnline, one of BMR’s top-rated sportsbooks.

Boston Celtics vs. Miami Heat

Wednesday, May 25, 2022 – 08:30 PM EDT at FTX Arena

ESPN has the telecast of Game 5 of the Eastern Conference Finals with it all tied 2-2 – I expect the winner of this game to win the series, either Boston in six or Miami in seven.

The Celtics are -175 on the series line at BMR’s top-rated books and the Heat +158.

Frankly, both this series and the West Finals between Golden State and Denver have been boring basketball with no last-minute drama. Here’s hoping the NBA Finals are much better.

Heat vs. Celtics: Series Recap

For example, Game 4 of Heat-Celtics on Monday was over in the first quarter when Boston ran out to an 18-1 lead with Miami missing its first 14 shots from the field.

The Heat did not make a shot until there was 3:22 left in the first quarter, the longest drought without a field goal to start any playoff game over the last 25 years.

The Heat’s 11 first-quarter points set the record for the lowest-scoring first quarter in franchise playoff history.

Believe it or not, the five Miami starters combined for only 18 points in the entire game. With Sixth Man of the Year Tyler Herro out with an ankle injury, Victor Oladipo led the Heat with 23 points off the bench.

It was the first playoff game ever that an entire starting lineup was outscored by a player from its bench (since starters were first tracked in 1970-71).

Jayson Tatum

  • Over/Under 28.5 Points

Boston’s Jayson Tatum had 31 himself, adding eight rebounds and five assists. We won a prop on Tatum over 38.5 points + rebounds + assists at -115 with BetOnline.

We also won under Jimmy Butler 37.5 points + rebounds + assists at -118 with BetOnline as Butler finished with just six points, seven rebounds, and one assist.

Herro is Expected Back In Game 5

Let me say right off the bat that I would recommend any over points props in Game 5 on Oladipo if Herro sits again, but it is expected that Herro plays and that would severely limit Oladipo’s minutes and shot attempts.

In-Game 3 when Herro did play (albeit not well), Oladipo saw only 20 minutes and had five points.

While Tatum was great in Game 4, we are going under his slightly higher total of 39.5 points + rebounds + assists because Miami has been a much better defensive team at home in these playoffs.

The Celtics are 5-0 following a loss this postseason and Tatum is averaging 32.6 points following a loss, the most in a single postseason in Celtics history (minimum five games).

In Tatum’s past four after a win: 10 points, 23 points, 34 points, and 10 points.

NBA Pick: Tatum under 28.5 points (-121) with BetOnline (visit our BetOnline Review)

P.J. Tucker vs. Al Horford

  • Who Has More Points

Miami’s P.J. Tucker is playing through a knee injury – then again, the Heat are listing half their roster on the injury report – and the veteran was a complete non-factor in Game 4 with nary a shot attempt and zero points in 21 minutes.

He did have 17 points in Game 3 but five and five in the first two games. The Heat needs Tucker’s defense, not so much his scoring. His only shot these days is a corner three-pointer.

Boston’s Al Horford only had five points in Game 4 simply as his team got out to a huge lead but totaled 30 in the previous two games.

I honestly see no way that Tucker outscores Horford barring injury to the Celtics big man.

NBA Pick: Horford with most points vs. Tucker (-295) with BetOnline

Max Strus

  • Over/Under 1.5 Assists

Finally, on the Heat’s Max Strus. He’s basically just a spot-up shooter but has been helping run the point when Kyle Lowry needs a break.

While Strus didn’t have any assists in 15 minutes of Game 4, he had two in each of the first three games and five in Game 7 vs. Milwaukee.

Two assists should be pretty easy – especially with Herro and his spot-up shooting expected back.

NBA Pick: Strus over 1.5 assists (+118) with BetOnline
