Best NBA Player Prop Bets Today (March 15) (Archive)

Originally published on March 15, 2022

The NBA has a light schedule this Tuesday evening with four games. We have seen at least one player score 40 points in 9 of the last 10 days, including three such games on Monday night.

Here are a few NBA prop picks from Bovada (visit our Bovada Review), a top-rated sportsbook, that should bring you the best value for your buck.

Brooklyn Nets vs. Orlando Magic

Tuesday, March 15, 2022 – 07:00 PM EDT at Amway Center

Kyrie Irving

The Nets (35-33) have won three in a row to get above .500. They are a 9.5-point favorite at the NBA odds after Sunday’s big win over the Knicks where Kevin Durant scored 53 points. But a road game means the return of Kyrie Irving, who recently had his own 50-point game.

Prop Analysis

Irving is red hot from three in his last two games, connecting on 14-of-23 from deep. He has made at least three three-point shots in 12 of the 18 games he has played this season. With Durant likely cooling down some from Sunday’s 53-point showing, look for Irving to step up again and be a dominant scorer.

The Magic, who are 1-2 against Brooklyn this season, also allow the sixth-highest 3P% (.362) in the league. While Orlando is only 18-51, the Magic have won two of the last three games and took the 76ers to overtime on Sunday, so this game may not be a blowout where starters rest early. But even if the Nets do not put huge minutes on their studs, getting to three threes is something that shouldn’t take Irving long to achieve.

This is the first time this season the Magic will face the Nets with Durant and Irving. In Durant’s only meeting with them, he made 11-of-12 shots and scored 30 points in a 33-point win.

Detroit Pistons vs. Miami Heat

Tuesday, March 15, 2022 - 07:30 PM EDT at FTX Arena

Cade Cunningham

The Detroit Pistons are a 13-point underdog in Miami, but these young Pistons are 9-0-2 ATS in their last 11 games. Despite this being a matchup of the Eastern Conference’s best record against the second-worst record, you can count on this Detroit team to fight hard again behind No. 1 overall pick Cade Cunningham.

Prop Analysis

Detroit is 1-2 against Miami this season but none of those games were decided by more than 10 points. Cunningham only scored 10 points total on 4-of-14 shooting in two games against Miami, but those were in the last calendar year. Since returning in February, Cunningham is averaging 20.5 points per game over the last 13 games, including an active streak of 7 games with 20 points.

Cunningham has not scored fewer than 12 points in a game since February 1st against New Orleans, a game he only logged 21 minutes of action in. He is shooting 44.4% from the field since the All-Star break, which is up from 39.4% to start the season.

The Pistons are not likely to win this game, but I trust that Cunningham can continue his 20-point streak with another improving performance from the rookie.

Phoenix Suns vs. New Orleans Pelicans

Tuesday, March 15, 2022 - 08:00 PM EDT at Smoothie King Center

Devin Booker

When these teams met in Phoenix on February 25, the Suns were humbled by the Pelicans in a rare 15-point loss. It was the second game without Chris Paul available and the Suns shot poorly. Overall, Phoenix is 2-1 against the Pelicans this year with each game decided by at least 12 points. According to the top-rated sportsbooks, the Suns are a 6-point road favorite here after crushing the Lakers on Sunday night.

Prop Analysis

For Phoenix, center Deandre Ayton owns the Lakers, Cameron Payne and Jae Crowder have their moments, but the most reliable player to bet on is still Devin Booker. He had 30 points against the Lakers, a total he has hit three times in the last five games. He’s had two 30-point games against the Pelicans this season, including one in New Orleans and one in the last meeting three weeks ago.

Booker is still by far the most reliable scorer the Suns have. The Pelicans have been playing higher-scoring games since acquiring CJ McCollum from Portland. But the Pelicans did just allow 142 points to Charlotte at home the other day. New Orleans is a below-average defense, ranked 21st in defensive rating.

I like Booker to hit his over in points, if not log a 22nd game of 30-plus points this season.
