Best NBA Player Props to Consider for April 5 (Archive)

Originally published on April 5, 2022

After a day off, the NBA returns with a dozen games this Tuesday evening. Here is a few NBA prop picks from Bovada, a top-rated sportsbook, that should bring you the best value for your buck.

Houston Rockets vs. Brooklyn Nets

Tuesday, April 05, 2022 – 07:30 PM EDT at Barclays Center

Kyrie Irving

The Brooklyn Nets are 1-3 since Kyrie Irving was ruled eligible to play home games, but this team is the most dangerous a No. 10 seed probably has ever been.

The Nets are a 17.5-point favorite at the betting odds against the Houston Rockets, but there is a good chance this game could be much closer than that, making the Nets play their stars longer minutes as they desperately need a win.

Prop Analysis

Irving’s shooting touch has not been there after he mesmerized fans with games of 60 and 43 points against the Magic and Grizzlies.

In the last five games, Irving is shooting 36.2% from the field, 37.8% from three, and averaging 21.4 points per game.

But despite this little slump, he has still found a high volume of threes, including three straight games with at least four, made threes.

Irving made seven threes in Saturday’s home loss to Atlanta. That game also saw Durant make eight threes, a career-high for the Hall of Famer in his 935th career game in the regular season.

The Nets are playing a Houston defense that allows the most points in the NBA.

Durant will not be career-worthy hot from three again, so I would lean on Irving to continue his volume streak and get at least four threes along with a win for the Nets. Brooklyn is 12-2 SU as a favorite of more than nine points this season.

Charlotte Hornets vs. Miami Heat

Tuesday, April 05, 2022 – 07:30 PM EDT at FTX Arena

Miles Bridges

Charlotte (40-38) is in a tight playoff battle for the play-in tournament at this moment. The Hornets can use a win in Miami where they are a 5.5-point underdog.

Charlotte cannot afford to rest starters after a few minutes of action like we’ve seen some teams out of the playoff picture (Detroit) do over the weekend.

Prop Analysis

In the last game before the All-Star break, Miles Bridges scored 29 points and was 3-of-10 from three against the Heat in a 4-point loss.

While it was not his most effective shooting night, it was a productive one, and Bridges has been hot since the break.

Over the last 18 games, Bridges is averaging 21.2 points and shooting 52.3% from the field and 39.6% from three. In his first 58 games this season, Bridges was averaging 20.0 points and shooting 48.1% from the field and 30.8% from three.

The improvement in three-point shooting stands out the most for Bridges. He has made multiple threes in nine of his last 11 games, and he has scored at least 20 points in eight of his last 11 games.

For our best bets, I think he can do both things once again in Miami.

San Antonio Spurs vs. Denver Nuggets

Tuesday, April 05, 2022 – 09:00 PM EDT at Ball Arena

Nikola Jokic

The Denver Nuggets are getting close to a playoff run and second potential MVP for Nikola Jokic.

The big man has been rolling in recent games and the Nuggets are a 7-point home favorite at the NBA odds in this one against the Spurs.

Prop Analysis

Jokic has scored at least 35 points in four of his last five games, one of the most prolific scoring stretches of his career.

He is shooting a ridiculous 72.1% from the field in his last six games with 33.7 points per game. In three games against the Spurs this season, Jokic has scored 22, 32, and 35 points.

He had at least 13 rebounds in each game too, so he has been putting up big numbers on the Spurs, who may again be without star Dejounte Murray.

The Spurs are a mediocre defense at best (17th in Defensive Rating and 24th in points per game allowed).

This looks like another great spot for Jokic to pile up the points, so I would play his points line up to over 32.5 in this game.

NBA Pick: Nikola Jokic Over 32.5 Points (+141) with Bovada
