Today we have our top NHL picks for moneyline, puck line, and total bettors working on a Tuesday night slate of NHL action. In our first of three, the stingy defense of the Boston Bruins makes going low in their game against the Canadiens a must-bet!

Let’s check out the NHL odds as we look to sweep the board on Tuesday night!

Boston Bruins vs. Montreal Canadiens

Tuesday, January 24, 2023 – 07:00 PM EST at Bell Centre

The Total Pick

The impossibly hot Boston Bruins will skate into the Bell Centre on Tuesday night in what should be a cakewalk over their lowly divisional rivals from Montreal.

Although this could be an ideal time to bet the B’s on the puck line at Massachusetts betting sites, as the moneyline is simply too steep, this could also be a letdown spot for Boston. Conversely, I wouldn’t trust Montreal with your money to come out on top.

Thus, we pivot to the total in this one, and it looks like a nice spot to go low. The Bruins have a Jennings Trophy tandem in the making with Linus Ullmark and Jeremy Swayman against the 28th-ranked Canadiens offense.

Yet, the issue we have is the No. 1 Bruins’ offense versus the 28th-ranked Montreal defense (yes, both offense and defense are ranked No. 28) but I believe the B’s might be taking this one a bit casually which is why this one goes low on Tuesday night.

  • Under is 10-4-1 in the last 15 meetings between these clubs.
  • Under is 3-0-1 in the Bruins’ last 4 overall.
  • Under is 4-0 in the Bruins’ last 4 after allowing 2 goals or less in their previous game.
  • Under is 4-0-1 in the Bruins’ last 5 games following a win.
  • Under is 4-0 in the Canadiens’ last 4 vs. a team with a winning % above .600.
  • Under is 6-1 in the Canadiens’ last 7 games following a win.
  • Under is 5-1-1 in the Canadiens’ last 7 after allowing 2 goals or less in their previous game.
  • Under is 8-2 in the Canadiens’ last 10 Tuesday games.

Predicted Score: Bruins 3 – Canadiens 1

Winnipeg Jets vs. Nashville Predators

Tuesday, January 24, 2023 – 08:00 PM EST at Bridgestone Arena

The Puck Line Pick

Winnipeg checks in with the second-best record in the Western Conference, trailing only the Dallas Stars, and should have their way with the Predators after winning their last two, and 9 of their last 12 games. And although these teams have met only once this season, with the Jets claiming a 2-1 overtime victory, we should note that Winnipeg had won their previous three over Nashville by two or more goals.

On the flip side, the Preds are 3-4 over their last 7 contests with their latest effort resulting in a 5-3 victory over Los Angeles on Saturday. But over those 7 games, the Predators have scored an average of just 2.5 goals per game which falls below their season average of 2.8 goals per game placing them 27th in that offensive category.

I like the Jets to not only win this game but win it decisively. Winnipeg has won 6 of their last 7 by two or more goals and the oddsmakers are giving us a healthy return on the puck line versus us having to shell out -120 for them to win outright. Let’s go with the better offense and the better team here.

Predicted Score: Jets 5 – Predators 2

Chicago Blackhawks vs. Vancouver Canucks

Tuesday, January 24, 2023 – 10:00 PM EST at Rogers Arena

The Moneyline Pick

There is something inherently wrong about laying north of -200 on one of the worst teams in the league. Yes, the Canucks just changed coaches with Rick Tocchet now calling the shots instead of Bruce Boudreau but they are still the Canucks, a team that ranks 24th in shots allowed per game, 31st in goals allowed, and dead last in penalty killing.

Just based on general principle I’m not laying any lumber on this team let alone double my money! And I don’t care if they are playing the Chicago Blackhawks or the Little Sisters of the Blind, it’s just not happening.

Yes, Chicago is a lousy team but they are only 7 points below the Canucks with a game in hand. Vancouver is 8-13-1 at home and if you think a new coach is going to magically resurrect this dumpster fire of a team then you can go bet on them.

As for me, I am taking a boatload of vig and betting on the Hawks here and if it’s value bets you seek then this one is for you!

Predicted Score: Blackhawks 4 – Canucks 3
