Where Will Aaron Rodgers Play Next Season? Most Likely Teams and Why (Archive)

Originally published on February 21, 2022

The Green Bay Packers are Super Bowl Contenders annually. However, the Packers always find a way to lose in the playoffs. Again, this year, the Packers finished first in the NFC this season but struggled offensively when it mattered the most against the 49ers. The offense let down Green Bay and watched another year pass by with Aaron Rodgers under center.

But let’s be honest. The Packers didn’t even expect Rodgers to play for them this season. He came back for a “final” year and helped the Packers to a 13-4 season. He’s one of the best in the business, but when the spotlight surrounds him, Rodgers struggles to complete the mission.

The Young Quarterbacks Are Taking Over

The Super Bowl might’ve been won by Matthew Stafford, but everyone’s talking about Josh Allen and Joe Burrow along with Patrick Mahomes and Justin Herbert. Rodgers is aging at this point. But he’s still a quarterback that will lead any team into the playoffs, just like Tom Brady did with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. So should Rodgers move to a new team in 2022? We look at the possible teams Aaron Rodgers might play for in 2022.

Earlier, after his exit from the playoffs, Rodgers was asked if he would return for another season. He said he didn’t want to be a part of a rebuild next season. The Packers won 13 games and were never in a rebuild. If he thinks that Green Bay is rebuilding right now, he’s out of his mind. And he’s been out of his mind throughout this pandemic, but that’s a whole other story.

Don’t be surprised with Aaron Rodgers returns to the Packers. I wouldn’t pay this kind of juice for Rodgers to stick around in Green Bay, but let’s use our brains, and let’s be honest with ourselves.

Why would Rodgers leave Green Bay to go to a place like Denver or really anywhere else? He’s had massive success in Green Bay and would be able to retain Devante Adams, who he’s made a top receiver in the NFL.

The quarterback drama is a bit ridiculous, and I’d assume we’ll know sooner rather than later. The Packers seem content with allowing Jordan Love his opportunity, however, Love hasn’t really developed since joining Green Bay and it was pretty apparent this season when Rodgers was unavailable to play.

The Packers just hired Tom Clements as the quarterbacks’ coach, which was basically a tactic to keep Rodgers in Green Bay. Clements had been in this position from 2006-2011 under Mike McCarthy with Rodgers at quarterback in Green Bay.

So really, it only makes sense for Rodgers to stay put. You won 13 games last year. There’s no better place to be than in Green Bay!
