The Tampa Bay Buccaneers missed out on last year’s Super Bowl after winning it all the year before during Tom Brady’s first year under center with the team. After losing in the playoffs, Brady retired. But that retirement didn’t last too long as he unretired and decided to play another season in the NFL, looking for another ring.

Tom Brady

It’s already been reported by Chris Simms that the Buccaneers basically begged Tom Brady to return to the team during his retirement. During this time, Bruce Arians decided to retire as head coach of the Buccaneers and there were also reports that Brady might’ve headed to Miami if circumstances were different over there.

The depth chart for the Buccaneers is similar to what he had last year as of now. Tampa Bay will have Mike Evans, Chris Godwin, and Russell Gage at wide receiver. At tight end, it’s unlikely that Rob Gronkowski returns, however, Cameron Brate is still on the roster.

The Buccaneers have experience on the defensive side of the ball and even added Logan Ryan at strong safety from the Giants, which was a big addition to the secondary.

Todd Bowles is now the head coach for the Bucs and he’ll have Byron Leftwich back as offensive coordinator along with Kacy Rodgers and Larry Foote both helping out on the defensive side of the ball.

The NFL had plenty of moving pieces this season. There are so many teams that got better during the off-season. But anytime you have Tom Brady at quarterback, good things usually happen. Brady has made so many players their money simply by being their quarterback.

Roster

Of course, the Buccaneers have a roster that is very capable of making it to the Super Bowl again this year. The offense has plenty of talent even if Gronkowski isn’t returning. The defense has a bunch of leaders and so much experience along with skill as well.

Sure, the Buccaneers lost Ali Marpet and Alex Cappa on the offensive line but the Buccaneers made sure to replenish with Shaq Mason.

Jordan Whitehead left the Buccaneers at safety but the Buccaneers picked up Keanu Neal and Ryan, as shared above.

There are some questions about positions and roles for some players. But that’s every team at this time. The fact of the matter is, the Buccaneers have plenty of talent, lots of skill and Tom Brady at quarterback. Brady proved that he’s capable of leading a team, even at the age of 44. He might have plenty more years in him.

Can They Win?

If the Buccaneers do end up winning another Super Bowl this year, I’d have to imagine Brady actually retires on that note. But if they don’t, the competitiveness in Brady might push him forward for another couple of years. It’s astonishing that he can take some of the hits he’s taken as a middle-aged man.

But with that said, yes. Brady can absolutely lead the Buccaneers to another Super Bowl. However, there are going to be many obstacles along the way and many more quarterbacks trying to push him out of the way.
