SC Freiburg is coming off a seven-goal thriller on matchday 32, beating Hoffenheim 4-3 on the away. Following the win, Freiburg leapfrogged RB Leipzig in the Bundesliga table and moved into fourth place. The three points gained propelled Freiburg into the coveted Top 4 position with a 16-6-10 record and 55 points.
Only two games remain to close out the 2021-22 Bundesliga season. As such, Freiburg will be motivated to give its fans one final reason to cheer about as they welcome Union Berlin to Europa-Park Stadion for their last league fixture at home. A win over Union Berlin will go a long way towards cementing a Champions League qualifying spot for the hosts next season.
Union Berlin is outside of the European frame, in seventh place in the table behind a 14-9-9 mark and 51 points. Die Eisernen missed an opportunity to claim all three points when they settled on a 1-1 draw with the soon-to-be-relegated Greuther Fürth on matchday 32.

The draw did extend Union Berlin’s unbeaten streak to four straight fixtures in Bundesliga action, but it was a waste of two points that they could have dearly used in the chase for one of the European spots up for grabs in Germany’s top-flight league. One wonders whether they’ll rue that missed opportunity.
Both sides should be motivated for this game and gunning for the win because the three points up for grabs are crucial. This makes it one of the games to spot this weekend. The last time these sides met, they settled on a 0-0 draw.
Another draw between these rivals wouldn’t be a shocker. However, with Freiburg ascending in the table, brimming with confidence and playing at home, they are in a prime position to capitalize.

Bayer Leverkusen is eager to secure a Top 4 finish in Bundesliga. They’re sat pretty in third place behind a 17-7-8 mark and 58 points. They are three points ahead of fourth-placed Freiburg in the table and five points adrift of second-placed Borussia Dortmund.
Hoffenheim, in the meanwhile, has lost the plot lately. They’re riding a seven-game winless streak (0-3-4) into matchday 33 and they’re down to eighth place in the table with a 13-7-12 mark and 46 points.

Hoffenheim’s poor run of form is a concern, but it won’t cost them a place in Bundesliga. They’re going to finish inside the top 10 this season, ensuring another season in Germany’s top flight.
Where Hoffenheim has lost out this season is in the race for European competition. They’re six points adrift of sixth-placed FC Koln and it’s looking unlikely that they’ll clinch one of these coveted spots with just two weeks of Bundesliga left.
Bayer Leverkusen are unbeaten in their last three meetings with TSG Hoffenheim (W1-D2-L0). They’re also on a four-game unbeaten streak on their travels. Considering Bayer has the motivation to win, along with the away from and the head-to-head record, there does seem to be better value in backing the away win here for soccer picks.

Stuttgart is desperate to avoid relegation, but they might not be able to do so because a date against the Bundesliga champions at the Allianz Arena looms this weekend. It’s an impossible situation, to be fair.
Stuttgart is on the cusp of the cut-off line with an 11-15-37 record and 29 points. They are two points ahead of Arminia Bielefeld (17th) and four points behind Hertha Berlin (15th). Most recently, they’re coming off a 1-1 draw to Wolfsburg.

Bayern Munich clinched a tenth Bundesliga title on matchday 31 following a 3-1 victory over Borussia Dortmund. The following week, Bayern suffered a letdown performance in a 3-1 loss to Mainz on the away.
Bayern has very little to play for, save pride. To all intents and purposes, the season is over for them. This raises the question of their motivation. More specifically, it also raises the possibility for Stuttgart to take some points off Bayern this weekend.
Backing Stuttgart is a longshot punt, make no mistake. It’s a risky bet. However, if Bayern brings the same level of engagement that it brought to the table last weekend, then Stuttgart may well fancy their chances to take the draw at the very least.
