Bayern Munich continued their high-flying ways, clinching their seventeenth win of the season to improve to a 17-1-3 record and 52 points. Although Bayern have a firm grip on first place, they still got a little bit of help from Bayer Leverkusen last weekend too, as Die Werkself upset Borussia Dortmund at Signal Iduna Park, 5-2. In so doing, Bayern Munich pulled ahead by three points in the table and extended their lead to 11 points over die Borussen.
Bayern Munich edged RB Leipzig 3-2 at the Alliance Arena on Matchday 21, coming through for their backers as the firm home favorites. It was a thrilling back and forth contest with the visitors giving Bayern all it could handle.

Bayer Leverkusen delivered a significant upset on Matchday 21, outshooting and outscoring Borussia Dortmund in a seven-goal thriller. In beating Borussia Dortmund, Die Werkself improved to an 11-5-5 mark and 38 points and extended their hold on third place by pulling four points ahead of Union Berlin (4th).
Next up for Bayer Leverkusen are VfB Stuttgart – one of the league’s stragglers that currently sit knee-deep in the relegation zone. Stuttgart are ranked 17th behind a 4-6-11 mark and 18 points. They’re four points adrift of Augsburg (16th) but eight points clear of bottom-placed Furth.
To say these sides are headed in opposite directions isn’t an understatement. Stuttgart are in real danger of dropping into second-tier obscurity at the end of this season if they don’t turn things around down the stretch. It’s at this point in the season when teams lower down the rung often get away with a few surprise shockers.
However, going to the BayArena ia also a tough job to navigate.

Borussia Dortmund will be keen to bounce back after the 5-2 thumping by Bayer Leverkusen last weekend. The loss didn’t cost Die Borussen their lofty position as the second-best in Bundesliga – they sport a 14-1-6 record and 43 points. However, it was a bruising defeat and one that they’ll be keen to have in the rear-view mirror as soon as possible.
Die Borussen aren’t getting any favors from the schedule as they face Union Berlin in the nation’s capital next. Union Berlin is currently ranked fourth in Bundesliga behind a 9-7-5 mark and 34 points. They’re in pole position to compete for one of the Champions League spots that are up for grabs.
Die Eisernen are coming off a shocking 2-0 loss to Augsburg on the away last weekend. It was a missed opportunity for Union Berlin to clinch some easy points given that Augsburg is one of the league’s bottom-feeders.
Both Borussia Dortmund and Union Berlin will be keen to make amends for their disastrous performances in the previous round. That motivation could see both cancel each other out and settle on the draw as the correct soccer pick in this one.
