Caio Borralho vs. Gadzhi Omargadzhiev

UFC Middleweight Co-Main Event Bout

Saturday, April 16, 2022 – 10:05 PM EDT at UFC Apex

Caio Borralho

Caio Borralho of Sao Paulo, Brazil, has undergone an interesting route to this Saturday's main card schedule.

After winning a unanimous decision on Dana White's Contender Series season 5, week 5, he wasn't offered a contract by the UFC President because a lack of cardio led to a disappointing final five minutes for Borralho. However, in a turn of events, the Brazilian was invited back three weeks later to participate in week 8 of DWCS season 5.

Borralho seized the opportunity to earn his UFC contract, and now, he's gone from an unpicked fighter on DWCS to fighting in the co-main event in his UFC debut. It's been an incredible turnaround for the Sao Paulo-based fighter, but he'll face stiff competition upon his arrival.

Gadzhi Omargadzhiev

Gadzhi Omargadzhiev left the MMA world squirming with sympathy pains when making a considerable impact on Dana White's Contender Series.

Training out of the reputable Golden Team gym in Moscow, Russia, it was no surprise that Gadzhi possessed an elite level of grappling. However, when the middleweight prospect swept his Brazilian opponent Jansey Silva for a kneebar during his DWCS appearance, the crippling submission hold left his opponent screaming in pain, and the audience was horrified.

Gadzhi is undefeated at 13-0. Although many will disagree with placing a debutant in a Fight Night co-main event, he undoubtedly owns the skillset to deliver a performance worthy of this card position.

Borralho Fight Style and How Can He Defeat Gadzhi?

During his DWCS appearances, Borralho showed lightning-fast movement and commendable footwork within the first five minutes. His ability to avoid his opponent's incoming strikes and pressure him was impressive. The choice of strikes was high level, and the opposition had very little room to breathe.

In addition, he showed power and finishing ability, with excellent clinch work and notable judo trips and takedowns. However, most of these attributes will be nullified by the grappling expertise of Gadzhi.

Personally, a fast blitz and overwhelming amount of pressure with relentless combinations will be the only viable path to victory for the Brazilians.

Gadzhi Fight Style and How Can He Defeat Borralho?

There's no secret to Gadzhi's blueprint. Most of his professional bouts end the same way, with a takedown and dominant ground control.

The Russian knows he'll be outclassed versus the karate style of Borralho, but I've noticed the fast decline in the Brazilian's gas tank when utilizing his technique for longer than 5-7 minutes.

Gadzhi is incredible on the ground. He'll level change a lot sooner than he previously has. The fluid movement and the elite striking of Borralho will force this, and I anticipate it'll be the game-winning approach.

Betting Prediction and UFC Vegas 51 Odds

The available odds at Bookmakers Review favor Gadzhi, and it's hard to disagree. The sambo wrestling, strength, and elite ground control of the Russian will likely give Borralho no choice but to submit to ground strikes or even a submission finish.
