Another jampacked soccer betting menu is on the docket this weekend with MLS fixtures highlighting action in North America.
In this space, we preview a couple of fascinating contests and examine the markets from corresponding online sportsbooks, all in order to determine the best bets this weekend in MLS for our soccer picks.
So, without too much preamble, let’s get started.
Saturday, April 09, 2022 – 03:00 PM EDT at DRV PNK Stadium
Inter Miami’s MLS campaign is off to a rather lackluster start. The David Beckham-inspired expansion team is propping up the Eastern Conference table with a subpar 0-1-4 mark and one solitary point through five fixtures. More worryingly for the Sunshine State hopefuls is the fact that they have scored three paltry goals during this span and boast a league-worst -10 goal differential.
New England Revolution made headlines last weekend, but for all the wrong reasons as they plummeted in the Eastern Conference standings. The Revs suffered a fourth-straight defeat across all competitions and third straight in MLS action, losing to the New York Red Bulls 1-0 at home.

On the heels of this latest setback, the Revs fell to a new nadir in the MLS table. They’re ranked 12th in the Eastern Conference standings with a 1-1-3 record and four points through five rounds. MLS Power Rankings from ESPN and other media sources reacted by dropping New England out of the top 10 teams to spot this season.
Neither side strikes a particularly convincing pose right now as far as their campaigns are going, which makes the betting on this game somewhat tricky. That said, the Revolution is getting the benefit of the doubt in soccer betting markets.
Bookmakers favor the Revolution on the MLS odds board, albeit with odds in plus money. Suppose the only thing that supports this market outlook is just how bad and clueless Miami has been so far.

Philadelphia Union is flying high in the Eastern Conference standings behind a 4-1-0 record and 13 points. They’re the only side that remains undefeated in the East after the first five rounds. As well, they have the second-best goal differential in the league at +7.
Union will be keen to protect its hot start when they face Columbus Crew on Saturday. They’re every bit as good as many preseason analysts projected they’d be, emerging as the early playoff favorites to spot. The best bit: they haven’t even tapped into their full potential yet!

Philadelphia is coming off a 2-0 win over Charlotte FC after maintaining their third clean straight clean sheet. They also held New York City and San Jose Earthquakes scoreless on the way to 2-0 victories in both games. The only sides to score against them this season were Minnesota United and Montreal, both slotting a goal apiece. Overall, Philadelphia has scored 9 goals and conceded just 2.
Columbus Crew is off to a positive start this season. They’re sitting pretty in fifth place in the Eastern Conference standings with a 2-2-1 record and eight points. They’re a point behind Chicago Fire (4th) and two points behind New York RB (2nd) and Atlanta United (3rd).
Columbus took advantage of a soft schedule to start the season, pummelling the Vancouver Whitecaps 4-0 in their season opener. Since then, though, the Crew, with each passing weekend, appear to be losing some of their intensity. There is a distinct negative trend, especially on the scoring front.
They drew level with the Earthquakes 3-3 in Round 2 and then beat Toronto 2-1 in Round 3. The last couple of weeks have seen the Crew score just once as they settled on a 1-1 draw to New York Red Bulls and then lost 1-0 to Nashville.

Predictably, the market is cornered with Philadelphia Union at home for this fixture. The Union is a legitimate MLS contender right now and it would take something extra special for Columbus Crew to pull off the upset at Subaru Park– be it with the outright win or even the draw.
The great news for bettors is there is value in the hosts on the soccer odds board too with several top-rated sportsbooks offering the Union at odds that are just shy of even money.
