Dallas Keuchel is making his 2022 debut and the soft-tossing port-sider has turned into a fifth starter at 34. Never overpowering, Keuchel had a variety of breaking pitches that batters swung at that were below the strike zone in his heyday.
Now, the downward break is reduced, the command is not the same and the velocity difference between the fastball and off-speed pitches does not fool hitters. That’s why the White Sox are underdogs.
White Sox vs. Seattle Strategy
Last season, Chicago was 7th in baseball in runs scored at 4.9 per contest. With several young players far from reaching their full potential, manager Tony La Russa believes this is a Top 5 offense with players like Jose Abreu, Tim Anderson, Luis Robert, Eloy Jimenez, Andrew Vaughn, and Yasmani Grandal.
