Bet This NCAA Basketball Parlay at (+340) on Tuesday (Archive)

Originally published on March 1, 2022

The first day of March is upon us, and that means college basketball takes over the sporting landscape for a month – especially with no baseball.

Here’s a three-way moneyline parlay for Tuesday, March 1st that would pay around +340 at BMR’s top-rated sportsbooks.

St. Bonaventure Bonnies vs. VCU Rams

Tuesday, March 1, 2022 – 08:30 PM EST at Stuart C. Siegel Center

CBS Sports Network has the telecast of this Atlantic 10 game. Both these teams are squarely on the NCAA Tournament bubble so both really need a victory. ESPN has St. Bonaventure among its “Next Four out” and VCU not even listed, while CBS Sports has VCU among its “First Four Out” and the Bonnies not listed.

VCU lost at St. Bonaventure 73-53 on Jan. 14 in a rematch of the 2021 Atlantic 10 Conference Championship Game. The Bonnies pulled away with a 17-2 run that bled into the first 5:06 of the second half to build a 46-30 lead.

I don’t take a lot from that because VCU wasn’t whole then but is now, and St. Bonaventure might be without starting forward Osun Osunniyi on Tuesday. He’s considered a game-time call with a left ankle sprain.

Osunniyi averages 11.2 points, 7.6 rebounds and 2.9 blocks, so that’s a big deal. He had nine points, seven rebounds and three blocks in the first meeting.

The Rams enter on a seven-game winning streak and their pressure defense is always more effective at home. VCU ranks seventh nationally in effective field goal percentage (.436), third in turnover percentage (25.6) and fifth in defensive efficiency (88.4).

VCU is also second in the country in 3-point defense (.266). Just three Rams opponents this season have shot better than 40 percent from three-point range.  Meanwhile, the Bonnies are 2-7 ATS in the NCAAB odds, in their past nine on the road.

Hartford Hawks vs. Albany Great Danes

Tuesday, March 1, 2022 – 07:00 PM EST at SEFCU Arena

No national TV for this America East matchup. All at stake is better seeding in the conference tournament with Albany tied for third at 9-8 in conference play and Hartford a half-game back at 8-8.

Hartford was rocked at home by Albany on Feb. 5, 71-52. Matt Cerutti and Jamel Horton combined for 29 points for the winners while shooting13-for-22. The game featured 11 different lead changes, with Albany holding the largest lead at 21 points late. The Great Danes shot 58 percent – and that was on the road. Hartford shot 40.4 percent.

In conference-only games, Albany sits second in the league defensively in allowing just 65.2 ppg. Hartford’s 52 points in the first meeting were a season-low. Horton is fifth in the league in scoring, averaging 15.8 points per contest and leads the conference in assists, dishing out 4.1 per game.

Freshman Justin Neely, a six-time America East Rookie of the Week, leads the team in rebounds at 4.6 per game.

Tuesday is the home finale for Albany and that always carries a bit more weight. Hartford will play one more game at home against UMass Lowell on Thursday night. The Hawks are just 6-15 all-time in Albany.

Hartford’s Hunter Marks, who averages 11.7 points and 4.4 rebounds per game, hasn’t played since Feb. 9 and is done for the season. That was a sizable loss.

NCAAB Pick: Albany ML (-130) at BetOnline

Michigan State Spartans vs. Michigan Wolverines

Tuesday, March 1, 2022 – 08:30 PM EST at Crisler Center

Fox Sports 1 has this Big Ten rivalry. The Spartans don’t have to worry about an at-large NCAA Tournament bid, but by all accounts, Michigan is on the wrong side of the bubble at 15-12 and 9-8 in the Big Ten, one of the more disappointing teams in the nation. Remember, coach Juwan Howard is suspended for the rest of the regular season.

Desperation is one reason I like the Wolverines here. They are the more talented team and will look to avoid a season sweep after losing 83-67 in East Lansing on Jan. 29. The Spartans shot 55.4 percent from the field and 50.0 percent from long range, and that’s not happening again.

MSU has lost five of seven and this could be a letdown situation – even in a rivalry game – after a last-second 68-65 win over then-No. 4 Purdue on Saturday. Oh, it’s a “Maize Out” in Ann Arbor and the Wolverines will be donning special 1989 throwback jerseys. No way, for our NCAAB picks, they can lose wearing those national championship duds.

U-M has won seven of the last 11 meetings at Crisler Center. Caleb Houstan is playing his best ball of the season currently with back-to-back games of a career-best 21 points – hitting seven three-pointers to retake the team lead with 49.

The Spartans have just one road win in their five and that was a squeaker back on Feb. 1 vs. mediocre Maryland. MSU is 0-4 ATS in its past four on the road.
