Best NBA Player Prop Bets Today (March 14) (Archive)

Originally published on March 14, 2022

The Golden State Warriors will welcome back All-Star Draymond Green on Monday night for the first time in months and his return should hugely benefit Steph Curry, who is one of our three NBA prop picks for the night via BetOnline (visit our BetOnline Review), one of BMR’s top-rated sportsbooks.

Charlotte Hornets vs. Oklahoma City Thunder

Monday, March 14, 2022 – 08:00 PM EDT at Paycom Center

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander

Normally, I’d recommend over points props whenever a team is facing the Hornets because they are so terrible defensively, allowing 114.9 points per game (third-worst in league). Either Charlotte or its opponent (or both) has scored a minimum of 115 points in eight straight games.

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander is about the only star-level player the Thunder have currently with rookie Josh Giddey out a few more weeks due to a hip injury. Plus, OKC has no reason to rush him back as the team is tanking. Again. It’s no secret the Thunder wants the best draft pick they can get this year, which means the more losses the better. Since the All-Star break, three other Thunder players have undergone season-ending injuries.

SGA averages a team-best 24.0 ppg, but Charlotte will be able to focus him on almost entirely. I also expect this game to be a rout, so Coach Mark Daigneault probably won’t be playing Gilgeous-Alexander heavy minutes. And it’s not that easy to score 28 points.

Minnesota Timberwolves vs. San Antonio Spurs

Monday, March 14, 2022 - 08:30 PM EDT at AT&T Center

Dejounte Murray

The best sportsbooks expect this to be the highest-scoring game of the night with a whopping total of 240.5, and I tend to agree as neither is great on defense and both the Spurs and Timberwolves rank inside the top six in the league in pace.

It might surprise you to know that San Antonio’s Dejounte Murray, a first-time All-Star, ranks second in the NBA with 12 triple-doubles. I could absolutely see him getting one tonight, especially if Minnesota defensive demon Patrick Beverley sits. He’s listed as questionable with a bruised ear that caused Beverley to miss Saturday’s game vs. Miami. Not sure I’ve heard a player out due to a bruised ear before!

Murray is averaging 20.7 points, 9.3 assists, and 8.4 rebounds but has jacked up his numbers a bit this month in averaging 26.4 points, 9.8 rebounds, and 8.2 assists. Murray did sit out Saturday against Indiana but that was simply for rest in the second of a back-to-back. He’s playing tonight. Murray has 26 games this season with 10+ assists – most by a Spur since Avery Johnson has 36 in 1995-96.

San Antonio has faced Minnesota once this season and lost 115-90 in the Twin Cities on Nov. 18. Murray had one of his worst games of the season with just 7 points on 2-for-12 shooting. That should only motivate him tonight.

Washington Wizards vs. Golden State Warriors

Monday, March 14, 2022 - 10:00 PM EDT at Chase Center

Stephen Curry

The big news for this game is the return of Warriors All-Star forward Draymond Green from injury. He has missed Golden State's last 31 games because of a disc/back injury and the Warriors have struggled on defense and -- at times -- on offense without their facilitator.

There are no props up on Green yet because his minutes will surely be limited, but I do like Steph Curry to have a big night with Green back because he is such an important part of the offense with his passing and offensive rebounding. The pick-and-roll between Curry and Green is one of the best in the NBA.

The Warriors were tied for the best record in the NBA when Green got hurt but have barely been above .500 since. Curry went from being the favorite to win his third MVP award to falling out of the conversation. The Warriors get 72.4% of their baskets off an assist when Green is on the floor (best of any player in their rotation) to 65% when he’s off the floor (worst).

Curry is averaging 25.5 points on the season but had just eight on Saturday in a win over the Bucks and took only seven shots. Did I also mention today is Curry’s birthday? It’s the first meeting of the season between the Warriors and Wizards. With a win tonight, the Warriors will have defeated every other team in the league this season, joining the Phoenix Suns as the only teams to do so.
